Dry Eyes?
INMODE Lumecca Intense Pulse Light treatment (IPL) works to control the inflammatory process and to stop the vicious cycle of inflammation and to reduce the need for medications.
IPL treats ocular rosacea, Meibomian Gland Dysfunction, and Inflammatory dry eye. It has been shown to decrease demodex and bacteria around the eyelids. The powerful bursts of light also close off blood vessels that release inflammation in ocular rosacea.
IPL and RF reverse the signs of aging by stimulating collagen production by smoothing wrinkles and eliminate dark spots for younger looking eyes.

INMODE Forma Radiofrequency treatment (RF) uses Radio-Frequency energy to generate heat which is applied to the skin around the eyes. This heat stimulates collagen formation, bringing white blood cells, and stem cells to the skin around your eyes while reducing inflammation. This treatment aids in opening up clogged meibomian glands, allowing for improved tear production and secretion.

Eye exams become more important with age.
Your vision changes with time, this is why regular eye exams are even more crucial for preserving healthy vision in your senior years.
Some eye disease are without symptoms:
While presbyopia (the age-related loss of near vision) emerges in mid-life with easily identifiable symptoms—like struggling to read a menu, for example—other more serious eye disease, like glaucoma, can silently steal your vision without noticeable symptoms.
But our optometrist looks for subtle changes to your vision during regular eye exams and can see signs of glaucoma or other vision-threatening eye disease before it's too late.
Some changes in vision are without obvious symptoms:
Even those who see well and are without age-related eye disease may have vision changes that might not be obvious. As we age, it may gradually become harder to distinguish an object from its background when they are the same color or close to the same color (like a white coffee cup sitting on a white table). This is called loss of “contrast sensitivity.”
While a mild reduction is normal with age, loss of contrast sensitivity can be a symptom of more serious eye disease, like cataract or age-related macular degeneration (AMD). When not a symptom of disease, lower contrast sensitivity complicates daily activities and raises the risk of falls or car accidents.
Keeping up with regular eye exams allows your us to catch problems early. The sooner a problem is detected, the more likely it can be treated.

If your eyes have been feeling constantly irritated, or if your vision has been blurred, it may be that you need dry eye treatment.
What Causes Dry Eyes?
In order to know how to help you fix your dry eyes, we first need to figure out what’s causing them in the first place. Producing an inadequate amount of tears is the more common strain of this syndrome and may develop from a variety of environmental and medical conditions, including gender, age, medications, over exposure to smoke or wind, or particular medical conditions.
You don’t produce enough basal tears: Otherwise known as keratoconjunctivitis sicca a reduction in tear production is a fairly common and normal consequence of aging.
Your tears are evaporating too quickly: Or in other words, you produce enough tears, but they don’t stick around as long as they need to.
Your tears are of poor quality: Many people think that tears are just water, but they’re actually a complex, layered mix of oil, water, and mucus. In order to do their job correctly, basal tears need all three layers in the correct proportion. If the composition is out of balan — for example, due to blocked oil glands—the tears have a harder time keeping your eyes adequately lubricated.

Danger: Colored Contacts Can Harm Your Eyes
Wearing colored contact lenses without a prescription may seem harmless, but beware: Costume contacts can severely damage your eyes and even cause permanent blindness if they're not fitted by an eye specialist. And many costume contact lenses are sold without a doctor’s prescription, which is illegal in the United States.
Costume contacts can be worn safely if you see a doctor first and follow their advice. Remember that contact lenses are medical devices that require a commitment to proper wear and care by the wearer. If not used correctly, all contact lenses can increase your chance of an eye infection.
The best way to ensure safety when using contact lenses is to see an eye care professional first.

How to get relief from digital eye strain symptoms.
It seems like everyone is staring at a computer screen, phone or other digital device these days. It's causing a widespread problem called digital eye strain.
Symptoms of digital eye strain include:
Eye fatigue and discomfort
Dry eyes
Headaches
Blurred vision
Red eyes
Eye twitching
Neck and shoulder pain
Here are some easy steps you can take to reduce your risk of eye strain and the symptoms that go along with it:
1. Get a comprehensive eye exam. An annual comprehensive eye exam is the most important thing you can do to prevent or treat computer vision problems.
2. Use proper lighting. Eye strain can be caused by excessively bright light either from outdoor sunlight coming in through a window or from harsh interior lighting.
When you use a computer, your ambient lighting should be about half as bright as that typically found in most offices.
3. Minimize glare. Glare from light reflecting off walls and finished surfaces, as well as reflections on your computer screen also can cause computer eye strain. Consider installing an anti-glare screen on your display and, if possible, paint bright white walls a darker color with a matte finish.
4. Adjust your computer display settings. Adjusting the display settings of your computer can help reduce eye strain and fatigue. Generally, these adjustments are beneficial:
Brightness: Adjust the brightness of the display so it's approximately the same as the brightness of your surrounding workstation. As a test, look at the white background of this Web page. If it looks like a light source, it's too bright. If it seems dull and gray, it may be too dark.
Text size and contrast: Adjust the text size and contrast for comfort, especially when reading or composing long documents. Usually, black print on a white background is the best combination for comfort.
Color temperature: This is a technical term used to describe the spectrum of visible light emitted by a color display. Of the different colors of visible light, blue light is the highest energy. Reducing the color temperature of your display lowers the amount of blue light emitted by a color display for better long-term viewing comfort.
5. Blink more often. Blinking is very important when working at a computer; it moistens your eyes to prevent dryness and irritation.
6. Exercise your eyes. Another cause of computer eye strain is focusing fatigue. To reduce your risk of tiring your eyes by constantly focusing on your screen, look away from your computer at least every 20 minutes and gaze at a distant object (at least 20 feet away) for at least 20 seconds.
7. Take frequent breaks. To reduce your risk for computer vision syndrome and neck, back and shoulder pain, take frequent screen breaks during your work day (at least one 10-minute break every hour).
During these breaks, stand up, move about and stretch your arms, legs, back, neck and shoulders to reduce tension and muscle fatigue.
8. Modify your workstation. If you need to look back and forth between a printed page and your computer screen, place the written pages on a copy stand adjacent to your screen.
9. Consider computer glasses. For the greatest comfort at your computer, you might benefit from having your eye doctor modify your eyeglasses prescription to create customized computer glasses.

It was a seemingly ordinary day when my world changed forever. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping, and I was about to uncover the truth behind the blurred reality I had known my entire life. As I sat in that small, sterile room, the optometrist uttered a single word that would become an integral part of my identity: Amblyopia.

It was a seemingly ordinary day when my world changed forever. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping, and I was about to uncover the truth behind the blurred reality I had known my entire life.
