Beyond the Mauve Zone, Kenneth Grant, 2016 limited edition $100.00 Oblique to the paths that give on to other dimensions, and beyond them, there lies a region which the author has termed the Mauve Zone. Mystics, magicians, sorcerers, artists of many kinds have – over the centuries – skirted it, stumbled upon it, and fled from it. Very few have penetrated beyond it and survived, or cared to leave any record of the experience. Those that did, have had to present their accounts as fiction, or discover a new means of communication – via wierd art, symbols, hieroglyphics, signs which fellow pilgrims alone might recognise.

Access to the Mauve Zone has been facilitated in more recent times by the use of magical systems developed by occultists such as Austin Osman Spare and Aleister Crowley, both of whom established contact with inter-dimensional entities possessed of trans-human knowledge and power. Both systems involve the use of sexual magick to open hidden gates that have remained sealed for centuries.

The present book contains references to these systems, as well as to the explorative work of skilled contemporary Adepts such as Michael Bertiaux, Margaret Ingalls (Nema), Jeffrey and Ruth Evans, and the Patriarch of the Ecclesia Gnostica Alba, Zivorad Mihaljovic, which places them in the forefront of present-day practitioners.

Akua'ba African Fertility Statue. Asante African Fertility Figurine, 14 by 6 inches (19th century) $95.00
The Asante tribe lives in Central and South Ghana on the African Subcontinent. Together with other tribes from this area, they form the Akan Peoples. The artistic tradition of the Asante has had a great influence on all decorative art from Ghana. The Asante sculptures are famous for their figurines of women, known as "Akua'ba." They are usually between 8 to 16 inches in height and have a big, round flat head on a stylized body. This shape fits the ideal of feminine beauty of the Akan women: a high, flat forehead, small mouth and long neck. The Akan people attribute supernatural powers to this sacred figurine. It stimulates female fertility and helps to conquer infertility. Women carry it with them at all times and treat it like a real child. When the figurine has proven its worth, it is added to the house altar. The small incisions in the face are meant to protect the child against the fits. The other peoples of Ghana also know their own "Aku'ba." For instance, the fertility figurines of the Fante have rectangular heads and those of the Bono have triangular heads.

The Magical Revival London: Skoob Books Publishing, 1991. New Edition, with Corrections. Hardcover. $150.00 Oddly one of the rarest of the Skoob / Grant editions. The continuity of this magical current as reflected in the work of Aleister Crowley, Austin Osman Spare, Dion Fortune and others is here traced through the Tantrik Tradition of the Far East, the Sumerian Cult of Shaitan and the Draconian, Sabian, or Typhonian rites of the ‘dark’ dynasties of ancient Egypt.

Sexual magick and mysterious rites have always been practiced; drugs and other substances have constantly been used to induce ecstasy, to produce visions and to facilitate traffic with the denizens of other worlds or planes of consciousness; but an initiated rationale of the process such as presented here has been rarely forthcoming.

The genuine magical tradition as revived by Adepts like Crowley is here related to its ancient sources and brought into line with phases of contemporary occultism that are evolving a New Gnosis to supercede the sterile superstitions bred of an aeon-long misunderstanding of the old.

Nightside of Eden, London: Skoob Books Publishing, 1994. Second Edition, Corrected. Hardcover.
$125.00 The corrected second edition of "Nightside of Eden", and from the copyright page: "Errata: This volume is reprinted from the 1977 first edition in which there were a number of errors. In "Nightside of Eden" (retrospectively declared the first volume of the "Second Typhonian Trilogy"), the late Kenneth Grant explores the "Tree of Death" and other aspects and manifestations of the Left-Hand path of Magick.

Outside the Circles of Time Skoob books 1992, $125.00 is the fifth volume in the series of Grant’s Typhonian Trilogies. This is a work that covers an extremely wide area and exposes – to quote from the jacket of the 1980 edition – “a network more complex than was ever imagined: a network not unlike H.P. Lovecraft’s dark vision of sinister forces lurking at the rim of the universe”. Outside the Circles of Time explores a complex of such ideas, from Blavatsky’s Secret Doctrine, Crowley’s The Book of the Law, Lovecraft’s Necronomicon, and Frater Achad’s researches. It also explores the work of Soror Andahadna, a contemporary Priestess of Maat whose work has parallels with that of Frater Achad some decades previously when he announced the inauguration of the Aeon of Maat in 1948. On the more orthodox premise.

Outside the circles of time, London: Frederick Muller Limited, 1980. First Edition. $175.00 ", a book that whilst complete within itself came to be viewed in hindsight as the fifth volume in the series of Grant’s "Typhonian Trilogies." "Outside the Circles of Time" draws from a variety of different sources, ranging from Blavatsky’s "Secret Doctrine," Crowley’s "Book of the Law," and Lovecraft’s "Necronomicon," to the researches of Frater Achad, and in the process purports to reveal an occult "network more complex than was ever imagined: a network not unlike H.P. Lovecraft’s dark vision of sinister forces lurking at the rim of the universe."

The cults of shadow First American edition 1976, $150.00 Kenneth Grant’s iconic exploration of dark magic, this text includes examinations of both his mentors, Aleister Crowley and Austin Osman Spare, and Chicago’s secretive Cult of the Black Serpent led by gnostic voodoo priest Michael Bertiaux.

Relentlessly exploratory and experimental Kenneth Grant, Crowley’s personal secretary in the last years of his life and a friend and patron to Austin Osman Spare in his old age, expelled from Crowley’s para-masonic magical organization, the Ordo Templi Orientis, by its second leader Karl Germer for incorporating elements of Ta**ra and the work of HP Lovecraft into practices the order considers sacred.

Following Germer’s death, Grant declared himself the new head of the OTO in 1969 only to have his claims disputed and ignored by the group’s new leadership. Founding his own group, the Typhonian OTO, Grant went on to an illustrious career in occult circles, particularly noted for this two Typhonian book trilogies, of which this volume marks the end of the first. Cults of the Shadow is particularly noted for being one of the most in depth sources on the beliefs and practices of Michael Bertiaux’s Gnostic Voudon movement, which was limited to internal course material prior to the publication of the Voudon Gnostic Workbook.

The Book of Q’ab iTz limited edition, $125.00. Part of a series of books that Atramentous Press will be producing on the subject of the Dragon’s Column, this being the cohort who contributed towards the work that eventually became The Dragon Book of Essex by A. D. Chumbley. It is in light of this that The Book of Q’ab iTz should be considered as having both a talismanic and telesmatic application.

The Book of Q’ab iTz appears as the vessel for the sorcerer, for contained within is the evidence of a practitioner who has dedicated the past few years to the arte magical. It is in light of this quite exquisite emanation that Atramentous Press is very proud to announce the publication of David Herrerias’ first work. As an artist and practitioner of the crooked path he has emerged as a contemporary mystic. With a similar style to Austin Osman Spare and Andrew Chumbley, The Book of Q’ab iTz will surely be regarded as the most revered enchiridion for the dreaming Self.
