Hospice Myths Vs Facts:

1. Myth: “Hospice care is expensive.”
-Truth: Hospice is covered 100% by Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurances—and under the hospice benefit, you will receive medications, equipment, incontinence supplies, and visits from our team to optimize your comfort.

2. Myth: “If I elect hospice, I will need to leave my home.”
-Truth: Hospice is a philosophy of care, not a ‘place’ you go. We bring care to your home, assisted living, or wherever you reside.

3. Myth: “You have to sign a DNR to be on hospice.”
-Truth: You can choose your code status. Signing a DNR is not a requirement for hospice. We will honor your wishes and help you understand your options.

1. Myth: “Hospice means giving up hope.”

Truth: Hospice focuses on comfort, dignity, and quality of life. Hope doesn’t disappear—it shifts toward meaningful days, symptom relief, and time with loved ones.

2. Myth: “Hospice is only for the last few days of life.”

Truth: Many people benefit from hospice for months, or even longer. Beginning hospice services earlier means more support, better symptom control, and more quality time.

3. Myth: “Hospice means 24/7 caregivers in the home.”

Truth: Hospice provides visits from nurses, aides, social workers, and chaplains, plus on-call support. Families remain the primary caregivers, but we teach and guide you every step of the way!
