Think of neurotoxins like a little “pause button” for your muscles. BOTOX®, Dysport® and Daxxify® work by temporarily limiting signals from nerves to certain facial muscles. That’s why they are commonly used in areas like the forehead, between the brows, around the upper lip, jawline, chin, and neck bands. These are the spots where repeated expressions can leave their mark over time.

Here’s the thing. Our faces move constantly. We smile at our kids, squint in the sun, or frown while concentrating at work. Over time, these movements can make some lines more noticeable. Neurotoxins give those muscles a chance to relax, which can make expressions feel softer and sometimes even a little more effortless. Many people say it even makes their day-to-day feel a bit lighter.

A few things to keep in mind:

Neurotoxins treat movement lines, not lines that are already at rest. Effects are temporary and gradually wear off. Daxxify may last a little longer in some patients.

Aftercare is simple. Avoid lying down, massaging the area, or intense exercise for a few hours.

As for safety:
It is impossible to get botulism from BOTOX®, Dysport®, or Daxxify®. These products have been safely used medically for decades. They were first used in children to treat conditions like wandering eyes (strabismus). Cosmetic use followed, and they are now the most popular aesthetic treatments worldwide. In rare cases, a temporary lid or brow droop can occur, but effects wear off, and your provider can guide you on simple steps to minimize risks.
