🦠 This flu season is trending worse than last year.
Right now, the CDC estimates around 11 million flu illnesses, 120,000 hospitalizations, and ~5,000 deaths so far — compared to about 5.3 million illnesses and 2,700 deaths at the same point last season. That means more than double the impact in illness and deaths this year.
📈 Flu activity has been climbing rapidly across the country — nearly all states are reporting high or very high flu levels, and hospital visits for flu-like symptoms are at record highs compared to recent years.
👶 Tragically, multiple pediatric flu deaths (including at least nine nationwide so far) are being reported this season, and health officials are closely watching trends for the next few weeks.
💉 Why does this matter?
🔹 Flu can be serious — especially for young kids, seniors, and people with health conditions.
🔹 Vaccination remains the best way to reduce severe illness and deaths.
🔹 It’s not too late to get your flu shot!
🧼 Stay safe out there — wash hands, stay home if sick, and protect one another 💛
