Northwest General Surgery at Houghton recently welcomed Nurse Practitioner Danielle La Plount, NP, to the team!

Before Danielle became an NP, she participated in involved in operating room surgeries “without knowing what happened for the patient afterward.” Now, Danielle says, she’s privileged to see the whole picture of care from beginning to end, and loves helping fix conditions designed to make people feel better and function at their highest level.

Danielle helps treat a broad range of conditions, with a particular love for hiatal hernia repairs and anti-reflux procedures.

Certified Physician Assistant Samantha Velna, PA-C, has officially joined the team at Northwest Colorectal Surgery at La Cholla!

Before Samantha became a Physician Assistant, she served as a flight paramedic in the United States Army. She says this experience sharpened her ability to remain cool, calm, and collected in high-pressure situations – and when attention to detail in a challenging, fast-changing environment is vital to the mission’s success.

“Treating surgical patients adds more layers,” Samantha say. “It’s very important to make sure each patient is on board with his or her care plan, and is comfortable asking questions. I strive to support those around me – patients and providers – with purpose and positivity, as well as clinical knowledge and innovation.”
