Tucson PostpartumTrifecta: ALL your Postpartum needs in one experienced professional. Postpartum, Newborn Nursery, Mother/Baby, Couplet Care, Community/Public Health Registered Nurse:I have worked as an RN in all of these capacities and always give the same superior and passionate care in and out of the hospital/birth center and in home. As an RN, I use my training, education, observation and clinical skills in head to toe assessments to get a complete and thorough understanding of how the mother and baby are adjusting. Postpartum nurses wear several hats – advocate, assessments, patient and family educator, counselor, nutritionist, spiritual advisor and resource liaison. CLE (Certified Lactation Educator)
Obtaining this certification came naturally after working many years with families trying to get their baby off to the best nutritional start possible. I provide support by knowing the anatomy of physiology of lactation and assisting mothers with breast feeding, proper positioning, identifying signs of correct latch-on, recognizing feeding/hunger cues, assessing infant hydration status and pumping. I teach the mother about breast and ni**le care along with the importance of proper nutrition and rest. Help to make the partner and other family members feel included and give them tips to help support the nursing mother, as well as make appropriate referrals to pediatrician, lactation consultant and/or support groups. CPD (Certified Postpartum Doula)
My most recent certification demonstrates my desire to further nurture, educate and foster independence in families as they transition into their postpartum period. I like to say this certification is the cherry on top of my ever increasing postpartum knowledge base, which encompasses various aspects of my nursing training and other certifications. As a postpartum doula, I draw more from my emotional mom side and less of my medical side to be able to provide the reassurance, a listening ear, give an encouraging word, lend a helping hand and help the mother and family tap into their abilities and instincts. I also pay close attention to the development of postpartum mood disorders and will help clients screen themselves and make referrals to clinicians or support groups as needed. I respect the partner’s role and input and provide parents the tools they need to go forward with confidence. This is accomplished through personalized, non-judgmental support, that allows you to focus on what you really want – meeting your baby’s needs! My ALL inclusive, comprehensive, postpartum support is based on your individual needs. I bring the peace of mind and training of an experienced professional into the comfort of your home.

TIP: Both can be frightening for parents and for kids. I always encourage parents to talk with their pediatrician if either continues to be an issue for their child. With night terrors: speak calmly and wait it out, stay with your child, make sure they are safe, and don't try to wake them. Nightmares: reassure them that they are ok and safe and give them some cuddles. If they are old enough, talk to them about it the following day.

Happy National Daughters Day to the BEST daughters around. To say we are blessed by them would be an understatement! They have always made us proud, but as they continue to grow and spread their wings, we are in awe of the women they are becoming. They are beautiful on the inside and outside. They are smart, funny, athletic, honest, passionate, and opinionated. They constantly bring laughter and joy into our lives. They inspire us to be better, teach us, and open our eyes in more ways than we can count. Their personalities are different, night and day different, but I love their relationship. They have sister tattoos that say "she keeps me safe" and "she keeps me wild." They go on sister dates to see movies and eat sushi, they dance and sing together and make silly Tik Toks. Their relationship wasn't always like this, but they prioritize it and I HOPE and PRAY they always do. Love our daughtersπŸ’›πŸ’œ

TIP: Dropping the FINAL nap can happen anytime between 2.5-5 years old as each child's sleep needs vary. Watch your child for cues that they are ready: resisting their nap, struggling to fall asleep at night time or taking a short nap. Still maintain a quiet/rest time in their room, as that is good for everyone in the house. Be patient with them as this may take a while to figure out and you may need to adjust bedtime if they are ready earlier.

TIP: Make sure your baby is eating enough during the day so they don't NEED to be up during the night. Talk with your peds FIRST before you start any sleep consulting method. It is OK to feed your baby through the night IF they need it.
