The world is full of healing methods that have been used to impat the human experience. Despite the differences in their culture of origin or the way the individual languages may intrepret the human body, the commonality is that its all talking about human phenomenon. There is a huge overlap to many modalities when you intrepret how they impact the human nervous sytem, lymphatic system, the circulatory system, and the other bodies systems.
As a client, you are a unique conglomeration of stress patterns, habitual holding patterns, postural misalignment, and physical tension. The body is always under tension, from gravity, from how we sit, and internally as well. The muscles, tendons, and myofascial tissue all exist under a tension that connects to protect the body and provide movement.
Strain is the opposite of tightness. For strain, think of a rubber band pulled to almost breaking so that you can see through it. When tightness and strain pull a joint into misalignment, problems happen, and friction can increase. The way you hold tension in your body can affect blood flow, nerve impulse, cerebral-spinal fluid, sinovial fluid in the joints, and the wearing of joints due to excessive compression and friction.
