Our community enjoyed a wonderful outing together at Janet & Ray's Soul Fusion Kitchen, a locally and black-owned gem that brings the heart of Caribbean cooking right to our neighborhood. 🍽 From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcomed and cared for, creating the kind of atmosphere that feels like gathering around a family table.

Lunch was a highlight in every way. The jerk chicken quickly became the crowd favorite - perfectly seasoned, tender, and full of the rich island flavors everyone raved about. 🍗

Outings like this remind us how meaningful it is to support local businesses while spending time together. It was a beautiful day, and we're already looking forward to our next adventure as a community.

When one of our residents who loves birdwatching suggested turning this hobby into a group outing, we happily embraced the idea. 🦆 Birdwatching has a way of slowing the world down—standing quietly together, listening for rustling leaves or distant calls, and sharing the excitement of spotting a flash of color in the trees.

We prepared for our peaceful morning by creating simple educational guides about the birds we might encounter, then added a friendly twist by turning our sightings into a lighthearted competition. By the end of the outing, the winning scorecard proudly listed 10 different birds!🌟

Sweetwater is Tucson's foremost spot for birders. Some 330 different species have been seen there over the years. February is an especially good time to view ducks and waterfowl. While there are over two miles of trails, we gathered in the pavilion to sit and enjoy the birds.

Our Valentine’s-themed Happy Hour was filled with warmth, laughter, and the joy of sharing something special together. We were honored to welcome Joe from Breakthru Wine and Spirits , who brought his expertise stories and passion for a great wine to our community.

Residents enjoyed a delightful tasting featuring Rombauer Cabernet and Chardonnay from California-each sip sparking conversation, curiosity and connection.

Events like these remind us how meaningful it is to gather learn and celebrate the moments that bring us closer. Cheers to friendship, discovery and a lovely share in this wonderful community💫💕🍷

Thank you for a phenomenal showing of Jazz Pianist Fats Wallers’ Musical ‘Ain’t Misbehavin’.

The staff, actors, and musicians were absolutely amazing and the set was mesmerizing! We laughed, cheered, and danced in our seats 🎹🥁🎺🎷💃🏽💃🏽 The program offered a surprise for us as well, one of our lovely residents in an advertisement for The Hacienda ❤️ So happy to see we have a partnership with such an important organization here in Tucson. Happy Valentine's Day! 🥰🩷

To participate in this day of love, we enjoyed an afternoon of warmth, charm, and effortless elegance with a live harp performance by the celebrated harpist Christine Vivona. Her graceful artistry and romantic repertoire create the perfect atmosphere for a memorable celebration. To make the occasion even sweeter, the event featured a special Valentine’s Happy Hour with curated dessert options designed to complement the music and the mood. 🍫

At Hacienda at the River, love is present each and every day. We see it in endearing and thoughtful acts between friends, neighbors, and our extraordinary associates. From all of us, we wish you and your loved ones a Happy Valentine’s Day!

🤠 What a western time we had at the Tucson Rodeo Wagon and History Museum! 🤠
In celebration of our upcoming local event, we visited this historic sight and got a glimpse into the cowboy roots of Southern Arizona. Fun fact: The museum is located in what was once the first municipal airport in the US. ✈️

The Tucson Rodeo, known as La Fiesta de los Vaqueros, is celebrating its 101st anniversary from February 21st to March 1st, 2026. This historic event has grown to become the largest outdoor winter rodeo, attracting over 55,000 guests annually from around the country and the world.

Our guided tour taught us about the differences between buggies, stagecoaches, and wagons, and we even got to admire newly restored coaches that were graciously donated to the museum by the Scripps family. A special highlight was seeing wagons that have appeared in classic Western films! Thank you to the Tucson Rodeo Museum for having us and we wish you a successful celebration in the next few weeks. 🌵

Recently our community took a trip to the Flandrau Planetarium, and wow—what an experience. While it was far too dark inside to capture photos (as it should be!), we left with something even better: full hearts and freshly expanded minds.

The presentation on the Tucson sky swept us through stars, planets, solar systems, and the vastness beyond—reminding us just how much there is to learn, and how small (and connected) we all are in the grand scheme of things.

What you see here is what occurred after the show: a bus full of happy folks, buzzing with curiosity, conversation, and that quiet awe that comes from looking up and realizing how much bigger the universe is than any one of us.

Grateful for moments like these that bring us together through education, shared wonder, and a little humility under the stars. 🌠💫

🌿A captivating science lecture by Dr. Howard Topoff took us deep into the heart of Central America’s rainforests—one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth. From brilliantly colored bird species and the intricate societies of ants to the slow grace of sloths and the dazzling world of butterflies and moths, every layer of the forest revealed a story of adaptation and interdependence.

🌋Dr. Topoff also highlighted the powerful role of volcanic soils, whose rich minerals nurture some of the world’s finest coffee beans, linking geology and ecology in every cup.☕

The talk closed with an important reflection on wildfires—their causes, their ecological impact, and the urgent need to protect these irreplaceable ecosystems.

It's always a remarkable journey through science, conservation, and the wonders of life when Dr. Topoff visits 🌎

Our Story

A 7.5-acre residential campus on Tucson’s Rillito River, The Hacienda is a unique community for individuals seeking exceptional Assisted Living and Memory Care with unprecedented access to cutting-edge university-based clinical care, programming and research. Designed on the traditions of the colonial hacienda, the grounds will feature buildings interconnected by tree-lined pathways and interspersed with patios, shaded courtyards, gardens and orchards with classic Spanish Colonial design that is common to Tucson’s architecture.
