Thank you to Horses n’ Smiles for bringing Easter magic to all levels of care with their bunny and baby chick petting zoo. 🐇🐥 We learned how to swaddle bunnies to help them feel safe and supported—and in return, they brought comfort, connection, and so many smiles.

The joy these animals brought was felt throughout the entire community. Residents lit up as they held the soft, swaddled bunnies and tiny chicks, sharing stories, laughter, and a sense of connection that carried long after the visit ended. Experiences like this highlight the power of therapeutic engagement and the simple happiness that comes from interacting with animals who depend on our gentleness. 💛

Our trip to Tubac, Arizona was one for the books! After visiting the Mission, we had lunch at the world famous Elvira’s Restaurant. It’s a beautiful space filled with all kinds of captivating art work and glass decorative pieces.

They create authentic Mexican cuisine for an elevated dining experience. Everything was fresh and absolutely delicious. It was the perfect ending to a lovely day of history and nature.

The residents thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Tubac to tour the Tumacácori National Historical Park. We toured their beautiful garden, tried freshly made salsa and tortillas, learned about the rich history of the Missions and walked through the Church.

The grounds were filled with flowers, calm and quiet, offering us space to reflect and be still. It was a wonderful day and we left feeling rested, inspired and renewed 🌸⛪️

According to the National Council on Aging, criminals often pretend to be from the Internal Revenue Service, Social Security Administration, or Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to pressure people into sharing personal information or sending money.

🚩 Red flags include threats of arrest, urgent payment requests, or messages asking for your Medicare or Social Security number.

When in doubt: hang up, delete the message, and never share personal information.

We were honored to welcome Dr. William von Hippel—affectionately known to many here as Bill, and proudly the son of one of our residents—for an insightful discussion on the difference between normal cognitive decline and dementia.

With a remarkable academic background and gift for making complex ideas accessible, Bill created a warm, informative environment that encouraged thoughtful questions and lively conversation.

Last night’s River’s Hoedown Casino Night was nothing short of unforgettable ✨

From the moment guests arrived, the room buzzed with energy—members and associates mingling, laughing, and connecting in a lively, festive atmosphere. Bright colors, great company, and a shared purpose made the night feel truly special.

Did you catch this heartwarming story in U.S. News and World Report?

It highlights the friendship between Wanda and Peggy at our sister community, Sonrisa Senior Living. What started with a simple invitation to play bridge quickly turned into daily check-ins, shared activities, and a “best friend for life.”

Stories like this remind us so much of the friendships we see blooming right here at our senior living community. 💛

At Watermark Retirement Communities, community life is designed to bring people together, whether it’s over a game of cards, a shared meal, or simply spending time with neighbors who become like family.

What a turnout for our lecture from Karen Wadman, president of the Arizona Opera League! 🎶

Ahead of the Met Opera's performance of Tristan and Isolde this weekend, we were honored to host an event to review the themes and musical elements of this powerful story. Tristan and Isolde is Wagner’s breathtaking meditation on love and death, holding a unique place in the opera world. It is based on an ancient myth, and to explore this well-trod territory, Wagner created a drama in which daily reality is dismissed as an illusion, while truths about life, love, and death are revealed as if in a fever dream. The vocal challenges, the sumptuous symphonic scale of the orchestral writing, and the mystical nature of the story, make this awe-inspiring work a phenomenon of the repertory.
