Kirtan This Friday night 6 30 pm

Ananda Center of Tucson is offering a Kirtan on Fri. June 27th, at 6:30 PM.
Ananda is a worldwide movement that was founded in 1969 by Swami Kriyananda, a direct disciple of Paramhansa Yogananda.
Paramhansa Yogananda, author of the book “Autobiography of a Yogi” introduced a new kind of chanting in the West. It is based on the repetition of meaningful phrases rather than the repetition of various names of God as is traditional in India. Its purpose is to focus the heart’s feelings and raise them toward superconsciousness.
The highest purpose of chanting is to help awaken us to our own spiritual potential: to bring us closer to Self-realization.
Ananda Center of Tucson’s chanting includes those chants shared by Yogananda that are in the public domain, plus chants by Swami Kriyananda.
Chanting has the power to lead all who practice it with deep attention to divine response. Singing, Paramhansa Yogananda said, is divine art; and devotional chanting is the highest form of this art because it leads to attunement with the cosmic vibration. In devotional chanting you learn to attune the receiving station of your heart to communion with God through sound.
Devotional chanting can take your negative energy and turn it right around and into positive energy toward, rather than away from God.

2025 Theme:The Time for Knowing God Has Come

It’s an invitation to live with greater awareness, devotion, and purpose—anchored in the presence of God.
