Center for Conscious Movement

Center for Conscious Movement Conscious Classes in Conscious Dance & Movement! For this reason we try not to offer each class more than once a week. Discover it! Join the Movement Today!

The Center for Conscious Movement invites you to experience your true nature and birthright to joy through various forms of dance and movement. We offer dance/movement classes and workshops with a focus on:
Joy
Self-empowerment and Self-love
Awareness
Intuition
Your natural-movement
Dropping mind
Dancing meditation

We aspire to redefine limited ideas of “dance” and “the Dancer” through the understanding that:
Existence IS a Dance
We are ALL Dancers, Dancing simply by Being
We are ALWAYS Dancing whether in stillness, standing, walking or breathing
We ARE BOTH the Dancer and the Dance

We teach Dancing AS Meditation/Dance AS Yoga:
Dance is among the earliest modes of yoga and is intrinsic to all. The word "yoga" means uniting and our classes are intended to help reunite you with your true unlimited beauty and power. As such, dance is a natural way to reveal the body's deepest wisdom when approached intuitively- that you are more than just the body!

We are unique... Our classes aim to inspire a joy for dancing and facilitate an opportunity to tap into intuition and consciousness through movement. We encourage you to enter into your natural state of joy by dropping your mind and all ideas that you may have to "work-on" or "perfect anything. In this way we encourage you to open yourself up to different possibilities and experieces instead of perfecting a skill set or achieving a goal.

Lesson #1 when you dance, move or work with me. In the studio, especially upon first meeting someone, I often encounter people who identify with the parts of their bodies they think "don't work" and what they think they "cannot do". The funny thing is... Dancing has very little to do with the body. It has to do with what can be imagined and thus what can be embodied. Dancing does not even require movement- at it's heart - dance is a meditation on Being. And it requires stillness and inner silence. Dancing is everything... So we begin with reframing what is dance... And then we move into reframing ourselves.

So if you work with me you'll often hear me inviting you to drop your mind, your notions, your beliefs... And yes even your experience. That's how healing integration can begin. You'll be invited to imagine yourself as vast unlimited light as a Universal Self... You'll be ssked to carry this idea with yourself throughout the day... How does it change being in your body? How does it change how you feel about yourself? How does it change how you feel about the world? Do you now notice there is no differernce? I invite you to try this practice today. ❤🙏

"Sleep is not a dead space, but a doorway to a different kind of consciousness—one that is reflective and restorative, full of tangential thought and unexpected insights. In winter, we are invited into a particular mode of sleep: not a regimented eight hours, but a slow, ambulatory process in which waking thoughts merge with dreams, and space is made in the blackest hours to repair the fragmented narratives of our days...

Over and again, we find that winter offers us liminal spaces to inhabit. Yet still we refuse them. The work of the cold season is to learn to welcome them."

~ Katherine May, "Wintering: The Power of Rest and Retreat in Difficult Times"

I'll be honest I don't love this. But I like it. And it's a great warm up for our Dance to Heal class on Monday at 9:30 AM at the JCC. We'll add breath and stopping and noticing our inner landscape. What do y'all think of this piece?

Last Monday we focused on effortlessness and being moved instead of moving. We dueted with scupltures in the sculpture garden, created pathways of movement, did a Taoist walking and breath meditation, played with falling outside and created movement recipes for each other!

JOIN US! ONLINE EVENING AND MORNING CLASS COMING SOON 💋💞❤🙏
