🌟Meet Emmy 🌟 TMC for Children patient ambassador
When Emmy was just 6 years old, her world began to change. She was always thirsty, constantly tired, and losing weight far too quickly. Trusting her instincts, her mom took her to the pediatrician—who quickly recognized the warning signs and knew Emmy had Type 1 Diabetes, urging them to go to TMC right away.
In that moment, everything changed. But because her mom acted fast, Emmy was exactly where she needed to be.
When kids are diagnosed with diabetes, they are typically admitted to the hospital for several days to learn about insulin, how to test your blood sugar, and to measure insulin properly.
Diabetes is something Emmy must think about all day, every day and something her family constantly must monitor. “Chronic illnesses can feel overwhelming and isolating.
The team at TMC for Children have created a supportive community that makes sure we never feel alone,” says Emmy’s mother.
The care Emmy received at TMC for Children made the hardest moment of our lives so much better. Emmy is now 8 and with the outstanding care she continues to receive from the dedicated staff and Dr. Patel.
