At just 9 weeks, baby is already growing so much🥹 The little round circle you see next to baby is called the yolk sac! This is the very first source of nourishment that supports your baby before the placenta fully develops and takes over around weeks 10–12. By this stage, baby’s tiny arms and legs are beginning to form, and that yolk sac has played a big role in making it all possible. 💕

When you drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your scan, it increases the amount of amniotic fluid around your baby. That extra fluid works like a natural “window,” helping reduce shadows and making it easier for us to capture clear, detailed pictures!

💡 Why is my baby’s face sometimes hard to see?
The placenta can occasionally rest in front of baby’s face, which may cause some images to look blurred, shadowed, or “distorted.” This is completely normal and part of how baby and placenta are positioned in the womb.

✨Anterior placenta = placenta is in the front of the uterus, sometimes resting in front of baby’s face. This can cause shadows or distortion on images.
✨Posterior placenta = placenta is toward the back, usually allowing a clearer view of baby.

If you have an anterior placenta, we recommend scheduling your 3D/4D scans a bit earlier — around 24-30 weeks and drinking plenty of water in the days before your scan. Hydration helps increase fluid around baby, creating more space for those beautiful images. ✨
