đź’™ Did you know respite care can make a big difference for families and caregivers?

Respite care provides short-term support so primary caregivers can take a break, recharge, and take care of their own needs—while ensuring their loved one continues to receive quality care and support. It can happen in the home or community and may last from a few hours to several days depending on the need.

At Northwest ABA, we understand how important it is to support not just our clients—but their entire support system. Taking time to rest helps caregivers stay healthy, present, and ready to provide the best care possible.

🌟 Employee Spotlight: Sam 🌟

This month, Northwest ABA is excited to highlight one of our amazing team members, Sam! Sam brings compassion, dedication, and a strong sense of purpose to their work with learners and families.

đź’¬ Why Sam chose this field:
I originally went into this field to understand, connect, and develop methods to help my son. Over time, it expanded into something bigger — being someone with a kind heart who can connect with anyone who may need support with skill development.

đź’™ What Sam loves about working at Northwest ABA:
Sam appreciates the strong ethics of the company and values the feedback and supervision time provided by supervisors. One of the most rewarding parts of the job is seeing learners experience relief as they gain new tools and skills. Sam also enjoys seeing parents engage with their children’s programs and loves being part of a supportive team.

Sam’s favorite part of the job is working in schools and helping students feel more connected to their community.

⚡ Challenges Sam navigates:
Some of the challenges Sam works through include billing errors, maintaining work–life balance, and helping learners’ communities better understand their needs while building meaningful connections.

👏 We are grateful to have Sam on the team and appreciate the heart and dedication they bring to supporting learners and families every day!

🏠💙 Did you know Washington has a program designed to help loved ones get home safely if they become lost?

The Take Me Home Program allows families to voluntarily register individuals who may have difficulty communicating or who are at risk of wandering — including people with autism, dementia, Alzheimer’s, or other cognitive differences.

Families can provide helpful information for first responders such as:
📸 A recent photo
📞 Emergency contacts
🧠 Communication needs
🎧 Sensory considerations or calming strategies
🩺 Medical or behavioral information

If a first responder encounters someone who is lost, they can quickly access this information and help reunite them with their family safely. đźš“

For many families, this step provides extra peace of mind and helps first responders better support the people they encounter.

If you have a loved one who may be at risk of wandering, consider reaching out to your local police department to learn more about registering for the Take Me Home Program. đź’™

✨ February Employee Spotlight ✨
Meet one of our amazing team members! This month, we’re shining the spotlight on Phala, our Clinical Coordinator here at Northwest ABA.

Read below to learn more about Phala, what she enjoys most about her role, and what it’s like working at Northwest ABA!

💚You’ve been with our organization for over 9 years—what has kept you inspired and motivated to grow with the company over the years?
Honestly, it is the people! The families we support and the team I've worked with over the years are what keep me motivated.

đź’™As a Clinical Coordinator, what part of your role do you find the most rewarding, and why?
I really enjoy helping families. I like being able to talk with them and share information about our services. Families just want to speak with a real person. They want to feel heard and know that someone truly cares and is there to help, and I love being able to be that support.

💚What’s a moment in your time here that made you especially proud—whether with a client, team member, or program?
The relationships I've built over the years! Working side by side with some truly amazing people, growing together, and supporting each other over the years has been something I'm proud of.

đź’™What advice would you give to new clinicians or team members who are just starting their journey in ABA?
Love what you do! When you enjoy your work and care about the families you are helping. It doesn't feel like work. It becomes fun and really rewarding.
