Lucas Radford Brewer, aka Luke, joined the Swisher Memorial Healthcare Team in June 2015 as our Chief Financial Officer. Luke became our Interim CEO in 2017. The “interim” fell off his title in 2018 when he was officially named our Chief Executive Officer. This Healthcare System has been through many ups and downs in the last decade, but Luke has rolled his sleeves up and helped his team every step of the way. Luke truly cares about his employees, and it is evident in the way he interacts with each team member and patient.

All this to say, Luke is our October 2026 Employee of the Month!

Here are a few things the SMHS team shared about Luke:
“Luke is the most involved boss I have ever had. When he says ‘hi’ and asks how you are doing, he genuinely cares about your answer.”
“I have seen him roll up his sleeves, help move boxes, and get down in the basement [The Dungeon].”
“He never acts like he is above anyone.”
“He is very funny and makes working with and for him very rewarding.”
“If he doesn’t know the answer, he will do whatever he needs to do to find someone who does.”
“His attitude and smile light up any room he is in.”
“Working at a place that upper management genuinely cares about their employees is rare, but here at Swisher we are blessed to have a CEO that holds not only himself, but all of his employees to that same standard.”

Genuine, fun, caring, and humble. Congratulations, Luke! Thank you for all you do!

Pneumonia is a leading cause of illness and death worldwide — yet it’s often preventable and treatable. At Swisher Memorial Healthcare System, we’re raising awareness about the importance of vaccination, early diagnosis, and proper medical care to protect our community.

If you or a loved one are at higher risk — including young children, older adults, or those with chronic conditions — talk with your healthcare provider about pneumonia vaccines and preventive care.

Together, we can fight pneumonia and save lives.
