January is Glaucoma Awareness Month, and Swisher Memorial Healthcare System wants to remind our community why routine eye care matters.

Often called the “silent thief of sight,” glaucoma can develop without noticeable symptoms in its early stages. By the time vision changes occur, damage may already be permanent. Regular eye exams are the most effective way to detect glaucoma early and protect your long-term vision.

If it’s been a while since your last eye exam, January is a great time to make it a priority. Early detection can make all the difference.

January is Glaucoma Awareness Month. View resources from the National Eye Health Education Program to help you encourage people to get checked for glaucoma.
