On May 29, the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers, Swisher Memorial Healthcare System honors the professionalism, dedication, and courage of the military, police, and civilian personnel serving in peacekeeping operations around the world.

This day recognizes the vital work of United Nations Peacekeeping and pays tribute to those who have lost their lives in the pursuit of peace.

The 2026 global theme, “Invest in Peace,” reminds us that lasting stability and conflict resolution depend on strong political will, sustained resources, and collective international commitment.

We thank all peacekeepers for their service and sacrifice in building a safer, more peaceful world. https://peacekeeping.un.org/en/events

May is Older Americans Month, and Swisher Memorial Healthcare System is proud to recognize and celebrate the invaluable contributions of older adults in our community.

The 2026 theme, “Champion Your Health,” focuses on prevention, wellness, self-advocacy, and making choices that support long-term independence. We encourage older adults—and those who support them—to take proactive steps toward staying healthy, informed, and empowered at every stage of life.

For additional support and services, this Texas government resource offers helpful information specifically for older Americans:

At Swisher Memorial Healthcare System, your health is our priority.

With flu season always around the corner, it’s never too early to start preparing. We encourage our community to learn more about influenza, prevention, and the importance of vaccination by visiting this trusted resource from the Texas Department of State Health Services.
Staying informed is one of the best ways to protect yourself, your family, and those most vulnerable in our community. Let’s work together to stay healthy year-round.

The Department of State Health Services is currently undergoing Sunset review. Learn more about the Sunset process and provide feedback.

Today, Swisher Memorial Healthcare System pauses to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

We are deeply grateful for their courage, their commitment, and the freedoms they helped preserve. This Memorial Day, we stand with their families and loved ones in remembrance and respect.

It is Friday, Swisher County. Go ahead and take a breath — you made it through another week.
The weekend is a gift. And one of the best things you can do with it is give your mind and body a little attention. Not in a complicated way. Just the small, simple things that remind you that your health is worth protecting.
Go outside. Laugh with someone you love. Drink your water. Take a nap without guilt. Move your body, even just a little. Put down whatever is stressing you out — even if only for a couple of hours.
These things sound small. But over time, they add up to something big: a healthier, happier you.
At Swisher Memorial, we care about the whole you — not just when something is wrong, but every single day. So this weekend, take care of yourself the way we would want you to.
Happy Friday from your hometown healthcare team.

145 years ago today, one determined woman proved that a single person with a heart for service can change the world.
Clara Barton founded the American Red Cross on May 21, 1881, after observing the success of the International Red Cross in Europe and recognizing the need to provide assistance to Americans affected by disasters or serving on the battlefield. She served as Red Cross president for 23 years.
Her legacy is a reminder that healthcare is more than medicine. It is showing up. It is staying. It is caring for people as neighbors, not just patients.
That is what we strive to do every day here in Tulia. Small town. Big hearts. Always here for you.
