What would be on my list to Santa as a pediatric SLP? Here are some ideas!
You don’t need special or expensive toys to offer language rich opportunities for your kids! These are some of my favorites at the clinic, but anything can be turned into a way to expand and grow our language abilities. Have an empty bag at home? Stuff it full of random things. Let’s make it a mystery bag! The options are endless.

Big news! CSST is now owned and managed by Ms. Morgan!
“I’m so excited for this new chapter of owning my own clinic! My family and I are incredibly grateful for the opportunity and the trust Ms. Maggie has given us. We could not have done this without the kindness and guidance of the Vincent family. I’ve been a SLP at Communication Station since 2019 and have learned so much! I’m excited to grow the clinic and take on this new role. We will still continue to uphold the culture that Ms. Maggie has created at CSST- family focused, play based, and neurodiversity affirming. Here’s to new challenges, growth, and lots of communication!” - Ms. Morgan

“How do you teach someone to say their ‘R’ correctly?”
Well today we used sour candy to help us with placement of our tongue!👅
Learning a new sound can be overwhelming! We like to break it down into little parts with lots of prompting to help kids understand exactly what we’re asking of them. This often includes using all of our senses to support us!
Did you know that there are many different types of “R”s to learn and more than one way to produce the sound? “R” can be pesky, but we’ve got a bag of tricks to help!

Happy Halloween!🎃 We are wishing everyone a safe and happy time trick or treating tonight!
Before you head out to collect all the candy, practice trick or treating at your door with your child. Here are a few things you can review:
👻 -Sequencing- first knock, step back, “trick or treat”, take one, “Thank you!”
👻- Practice saying, “Trick or treat!”. If your child is minimally verbal or difficult to understand, write “trick or treat” on a piece of paper and attach to their bucket or a necklace. Model how to point to the picture while saying it.
👻- Talk about safety- practice responses to the command “stop” in a game. Talk about where to stand. Remind children to not enter other’s homes or touch pets without asking first.

And of course, have the most fun!
