Last week, the Oklahoma Department of Human Services was notified that SNAP benefits will be suspended beginning November 1 because of the ongoing federal government shutdown. We know that this is incredibly distressing for families who rely on SNAP benefits and nonprofits who are serving their neighbors.

If you or someone you know is affected, help is available. No matter where you live in Eastern Oklahoma, you can call 211 or visit 211eok.org to find food services including food pantries, walk-in meal sites, home delivery, and congregate meals/nutrition sites.

If you would like to help, you can donate funds, food, or your time to local food pantries and nonprofits that serve these families and individuals.

During uncertain times, Tulsa Area United Way is steadfast in our mission to connect people to resources and to mobilize our community to come together.

Every Oklahoma citizen is a mandated reporter by law. Not just teachers, doctors, or therapists. All y’all.
Please report any SUSPICIONS of abuse to the DHS hotline 1-800-522-3511.
It doesn’t matter if you can prove it. It doesn’t matter if someone else probably already called it in. It doesn’t matter if you don’t think they’ll do anything about it. It doesn’t matter if the suspected abuser is a “good person”.
Protect children.

Child abuse cases in Tulsa increased in August, with several high-profile incidents highlighting a troubling trend across the state.

Advocates say it’s a reminder that abuse often happens close to home, and they urge anyone with concerns to speak up.

🌿 Meet Sarah Rachel Thomas, LCSW 🌿
We’re thrilled to welcome Sarah to our team! With a deep belief that every child, teen, and adult deserves to feel safe, seen, heard, and valued, Sarah brings heart, experience, and creativity to her work as a therapist.

She has supported children, teens, and families through grief, trauma, school challenges, divorce, incarceration, and more—as a school social worker, counselor, and embedded school therapist. Her sessions often include play, art, mindfulness, yoga, and walk-and-talks to help clients connect with their inner world and grow with confidence.

Sarah is also the founder of Humble Warrior Collective, a nonprofit bringing trauma-conscious yoga and mindfulness to recovery centers, jails, and schools.

Her office is at 1717 S Cheyenne in Tulsa.

Outside of therapy, she enjoys time in the mountains with her husband and teens, journaling, thrifting, and relaxing with a good book, coffee, and her fur babies.
