💕 In October, We Wear Pink 💕
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
🎀 Did you know?
-breast cancer accounts for about 30% (or 1 in 3) of all new female cancers each year.
-When found early, the 5-year survival rate is over 99%.
-Most breast cancers are found in women over 50, but it can occur at any age.
The American Cancer Society's estimates for breast cancer in the United States for 2025 are:
About 316,950 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women. About 59,080 new cases of ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) will be diagnosed.
About 42,170 women will die from breast cancer.
👩⚕️ Our recommendations:
-Begin annual screening mammograms at age 40, or earlier if you have a strong family history or increased risk.
-Practice breast self-awareness. Know how your breasts normally look and feel, and report any new changes (like lumps, dimpling, or ni**le discharge) to your provider.
-Keep up with your annual well-woman exams. They’re an important opportunity to review your personal risk factors and screening schedule.
This month (and every month), let’s stand together in pink, spread awareness, and encourage the women in our lives to prioritize their breast health. 💗
