Here’s a few things you should know before going down the implant size rabbit hole..

Things Considered by Surgeons:

1. Body Proportions: Surgeons assess the patient’s body type, including height, weight, and chest width, to recommend an appropriate size that complements their figure.

2. Desired Outcome: The patient’s goals play a significant role. Some may prefer a more natural look, while others may want a fuller appearance.

3. Existing Breast Tissue: The amount of natural breast tissue can influence how implants will look post-surgery. Those with less tissue may require different considerations.

4. Implant Profile: Implants come in various profiles (moderate, high, etc.) which can affect the projection and overall appearance.

5. Skin Elasticity: The stretch and elasticity of the skin can determine how well the implants will fit in the long term.

Importance of Consultation:

Personalized Advice: Surgeons can provide tailored recommendations based on individual anatomy and aesthetic goals.

An explant, specifically refers to the removal of an implant from the body. This procedure may be performed for various reasons, including implant rupture, capsular contracture, or simply the patient’s desire to remove the implant for personal or health reasons.

Although a smaller percentage of patients opt for explants, many wonder what an explant would look like & and Dr. Sohn performed the explant with a breast lift on our patient who had to make the decision to remove her implants and the goal was to make them as natural as possible.
