PN students had the privilege of meeting Dwan R. Borens the Chief Nurse for ASJ BA! When I tell you, he has a calling for MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKING! The students were absolutely thankful and took away several nuggets to hold onto as they move forward in their journey to the nursing profession.

💙 There is something powerful about standing beside students who are choosing to elevate their lives through education. Our CMA class has shown remarkable focus, compassion, and strength, and the joy on their faces tells the story: they are proud of themselves, and they should be. The medical field needs people just like them: empathetic, skilled, and ready to serve. Watching their journey is a reminder of why we pour into this work with purpose.✨

One of those days that reminds us exactly why we do what we do. Our CPR class came in ready to learn, ready to practice, and ready to take a step forward in becoming stronger, safer, and more prepared healthcare professionals. From hands-on skills to teamwork, laughter, and support, this group showed up with so much enthusiasm and heart. CPR isn’t just a requirement, it’s a life-saving skill, a confidence-builder, and a moment where students realize their ability to make a real impact in someone’s life.

Seeing everyone on the mats, practicing compressions, asking questions, helping each other, and truly engaging in the process made this session unforgettable. And the joy afterward the group photos, the smiles, the bonding that’s the community we are proud to build here at HSETC. Every class, every skill test, every shared moment brings our students one step closer to their goals. Proud of this group for their dedication, effort, and spirit today. You all showed up beautifully.” 🩺💪🏽❤️

✨There is nothing like the energy of a full classroom, students from different backgrounds, different journeys, and different walks of life all coming together with one shared goal: to elevate themselves and their future within healthcare. This room was full of laughter, focus, curiosity, and that beautiful mix of nerves and determination that adult learners bring. At HSETC, we don’t just teach; we support, we guide, and we build a community where everyone feels seen, valued, and capable. These are the moments that remind us of our WHY!

✨ One of the things that truly sets HSETC apart is leadership that leads by example.

Our Administrator stepped into the classroom today not just to teach, but to connect, to guide, and to pour knowledge into our students in a way that reflects the heart of this institution. When leadership is hands-on, present, and invested, it elevates the entire learning experience.

Watching our Administrator teach reminds us that great leaders don’t sit behind desks they stand with their students, share their expertise, and model the excellence we expect in healthcare. This is what intentional leadership looks like.🩺📚

✨ Just a beautiful moment with a beautiful group of women who continue to show up for themselves, their education, and their future.

We may be past Breast Cancer Awareness month, but every day is the perfect day to stand in unity, confidence, and sisterhood.

And a special thank-you to EvokeU Apparel for creating our custom shirts, made with intention and purpose, and worn with pride.💗

🌟Every certificate represents hours of learning, effort, discipline, and courage — and these students earned every bit of it. Watching them grow from day one to this moment reminds me why HSETC is so special. It’s an environment where people come together, support each other, and step boldly into new opportunities. Congratulations to this amazing group, may this accomplishment be the foundation for everything you dream of in healthcare.❤️

Professional and Opportunities

Message from the owner Wendy Williams, RN, MS, MPH--

Health and Safety Education Consultants Training Center, LLC was morphed out of its first operating business Health and Safety Education Consultants (HSEC), Anew Direction, LLC. The original business was founded in 2016 by two Registered Nurses who had a vision to impact the healthcare community through quality training. The business was started after many years of educating nursing students and working in Tulsa’s Healthcare industry. Today, I have branched off to form HSECTC with a plan to continue to grow and expand business.

My goal as a business is to impact our growing healthcare industry in a way that has never been seen in Tulsa. My educational background began in New Orleans, LA where I completed undergraduate nursing school receiving my Bachelors of Nursing. It was here where I learned the art of nursing. Upon moving to Tulsa in January of 1989, I began my work as a professional nurse. It is here in Tulsa where I have progressed from a novice nurse to an expert in nursing. My passion to care for others has grown beyond my most unimaginable dreams. It is here in Oklahoma where I obtained graduate degrees in the area of health. My first advance degree obtained was a Masters in Public Health, 1995 and later obtained a Masters in Nursing Education, 2008.

As a nurse in the community, my experiences have crossed many settings, beginning with in-patient care at Doctor’s Hospital to other local hospitals. I have also worked for Tulsa City –County Health Department, Veterans Administration, Morton Comprehensive Health Services and Tulsa Public Schools. My teaching experience was gained through several years of teaching adjunct and full time for Tulsa Technology Center. The classes taught included Licensed Practical Nursing full-time and all other allied health careers as adjunct. My teaching experience also includes Langston University SON and Brown Mackie College SON; both schools of nursing were for registered nurse students. My professional affiliations include; Founder of Eastern Oklahoma Black Nurses Association, Lifetime Member of the National Black Nurses Association, America Heart Association Board of Directors, member 2017- Present, American Heart Association Ambassador for The Power to End Stroke Program, 2009 – Present. I have published as co-author in the American Journal of Public Health and Journal of Cultural Diversity: An Interdisciplinary Journal, both in the area genomic testing.
