Unsafe practice.

It’s not just about the senselessness of injecting toxins into the body to prevent acute illness (a detoxification event). Parents need to be equipped with the knowledge of HOW the body works to understand why we would never want to undermine that essential process! What we’ve been led to believe are problems (symptoms that need to be suppressed) are in reality the mechanisms by which accumulated waste is eliminated. It’s not in your child’s best interest to get in the way of what the body needs to do to survive and thrive.

You cannot make store-bought (factory produced) cereal into an acceptable food…dyes are only one aspect of the problem with boxed cereals. The extrusion process denatures what started out as food (grain) for the sake of uniformity and shelf-life. You can currently purchase foods that don’t have synthetic dyes, but if they are denatured foods, that’s hardly an improvement - that “food” will not serve you and can even cause harm. You CAN make homemade cereal that is not as damaging. I’ll post a link to a recipe. *Cereal is not on the GAPS Intro diet.

The guest was asked for the one thing she would recommend people do to improve their health, and especially their fertility. Her answer:

“I’m going to say cook more food at home. That way, you have control of the ingredients and the quality of the oil. It costs a lot less. Arguably, the most important life skill that you can develop is the ability to cook whole, nourishing foods that taste good. It all starts in the kitchen.”

I agree so much with that. For me it’s a matter of taking back the power that our grandmothers and great grandmothers before had, power that has been largely lost in our culture.

Seeing people having fertility issues was one of the top reasons I entered this field. How your food is raised, selected, and prepared dramatically affects your state of health, including your fertility. If you’re struggling in this area, I’d love the opportunity to share information, resources, and techniques with you.

Helpful tip: Prepare several of your favorite sauerkraut varieties in large batches all at once. It may feel like a big job up front, but doing it less frequently makes the process feel much more manageable — and you’ll always have some on hand! I block out some time (mentally prepare 🥸) and enjoy a podcast or music while I squish away. 😊

These will last months in the refrigerator. *Make sure to keep the kraut fully submerged under the brine to prevent spoiling while storing.

Here were have: Curtido (red cabbage, carrots, onion, red pepper flakes, oregano), Green Cabbage Kraut, and Green Cabbage + Carrots.

These are all delicious foundational foods on a gut healing protocol for many reasons, but their main role in healing is to 1) increase and diversify beneficial bacteria in the digestive tract to assist with digestion and maximize absorption of nutrients and 2) restore balance to the bacterial population which can profoundly affect food cravings. Fermentation actually INCREASES the nutrient value of food.

If you heve received allopathic treatment on any level, you’ll need to proactively take measures to repair the damage to your gut.

If you’re receiving ongoing treatments, using the foundational foods of the GAPS diet during treatment will make you much stronger and put you in a healthier place to receive those treatments.

🔸Meat Stock - restores the gut lining on the cellular level
🔸Probiotic Foods - restore gut microbiome. If you’ve taken even just one round of antibiotics, this can take several months. It’s really important to watch your diet during the weeks and months after destruction to your microbial community has taken place so that additional expressions of imbalance (UTI, lingering cold, random “infections”) do not occur.

As you begin the healing process, it helps tremendously to focus on detoxifying and strengthening your elimination organs and pathways along with the dietary changes.

I can help you learn the specific foods used for healing, teach you techniques that turn food into delicious medicine, and guide you through the detox process. *None of the foods pictured here would be included.
