“You don’t always have to be a doctor to save a life, you can just donate blood.” 🩸
Have you ever wondered what the blood that is donated is used for?
Blood donations are used to save the lives of people experiencing many different things. From trauma to obstetrics to cancer patients, both children and adults.
I am the grateful recipient of a blood transfusion. When my youngest son was born, my anemia was so bad that I lost a lot of blood during childbirth. I remember his birth, getting to hold him and then everything starts to get blurry because of how much blood I lost. My doctor quickly ordered the transfusion and after receiving two units of blood my health stabilized. There is nothing scarier than the thought of not getting to see your babies grow up. So I will be eternally grateful for the selflessness of the people that took the time to donate blood that found it’s way to me! So today, I ask you, take the time to donate blood, you never know whose life you will save!
