Just like choosing a therapist, doctor, or midwife—choosing an IBCLC is personal. We don’t all have the same training, experience, or philosophy.

It’s okay (and encouraged!) to ask questions. A good IBCLC won’t be offended—they’ll welcome it.

We critically evaluate research, challenge misinformation, and adapt our care based on the latest evidence and real-world experience. That means we won’t blindly agree with providers, lactation consultants, or anyone else if it’s not in the best interest of the parent and baby in front of us.
