Surgery isn’t always the first step in treating scoliosis. ☝🏻
For many patients, especially children and teens, early intervention can make a meaningful difference.

Before considering surgery, we often explore:
• Close monitoring to track curve progression
• Bracing to help prevent worsening during growth
• Physical therapy & scoliosis-specific exercises to improve strength, posture, and balance
• Individualized treatment plans based on age, curve type, and symptoms

The goal is always the same: protect long-term spine health while using the least invasive option possible. Surgery is reserved for cases where it’s truly necessary. We are here to help you every step of the way! ✅

Have you ever wondered how we are able to place hardware in the exact position and place where it belongs during surgery? 🩻
This is our very important machine called the “c-arm.” It is used during surgery to make sure placement is exact every single time. 🙌🏻👌🏼

✨ When patients understand what to expect, they:
• Make informed decisions
• Feel less anxious and more confident
• Follow pre- and post-op instructions
• Recover more smoothly
• Reduce surgical risks
• Set realistic expectations
• Communicate better with their care team
• Have better caregiver support

Education empowers patients, builds trust, and leads to better outcomes—every time! As always, we are here to help, every step of the way! ✅

Kyphosis is a medical term that refers to an excessive outward curvature of the spine, resulting in a rounded or hunched back. This condition can occur at any age but is more common in older adults.

Treatment for kyphosis depends on the type and severity. It may include physical therapy, bracing, pain management, and in some cases, surgery to correct the spinal curvature. Early diagnosis and intervention are crucial to prevent progression and manage symptoms effectively.

Our team is located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. If you have questions regarding scoliosis or kyphosis, give us a call to schedule your appointment!

📣 Scoliosis, a condition characterized by an abnormal curvature of the spine, is generally not preventable. Its development depends on various factors, such as genetics, age, and underlying conditions.

👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

The most common type, idiopathic scoliosis, has no known cause and no established method of prevention.

However, some forms of scoliosis linked to other conditions may be managed or mitigated through early intervention and treatment.

Here are some important points to consider:

👉🏻 Types and Prevention:
Idiopathic Scoliosis: No known cause or prevention.

Congenital Scoliosis: Caused by spinal malformations present at birth, and it cannot be prevented.

Neuromuscular Scoliosis: Associated with conditions like muscular dystrophy or cerebral palsy; prevention focuses on managing the underlying condition.

Degenerative Scoliosis: Related to aging and spinal degeneration; maintaining a healthy lifestyle and good posture might reduce risk factors.

👉🏻 Early Detection:
While scoliosis cannot typically be prevented, early detection through routine physical exams can prevent progression. Monitoring growth in children and addressing spine issues early can reduce the need for invasive treatments.

👉🏻 Lifestyle Factors:
Though scoliosis isn’t directly preventable, maintaining strong core muscles, good posture, and healthy habits may help optimize spinal health and reduce complications.

If you’re concerned about scoliosis for yourself or a loved one, consulting with a healthcare professional is crucial for early diagnosis and management. Give us a call, we are always happy to help!
