Veterans in Eastern Oklahoma!!!!
Artwork by local Veterans will be on display to the public at the Jack C. Montgomery VAMC during the week of August 18th through 22nd. It is estimated that over 40 pieces of visual and performance art from among 25 different categories will be exhibited. VA medical facilities incorporate creative arts into their therapy programs to further the rehabilitation for both inpatients and outpatients. This annual competition recognizes the progress and recovery made through that therapy and raises the visibility of the creative achievements of our Nation’s Veterans.
Finalists will advance to the national level where they will compete with entries submitted by Veterans from other VA facilities from across the country. The competition is an annual event that provides Veterans receiving treatment at VA facilities the opportunity to participate in creative self-expression in art, creative writing, dance, drama and music as part of their therapy, and to gain recognition for these artistic accomplishments.
Last year’s competition took place in Tulsa, and this year, Muskogee will be hosting the event. If you are interested in competing, volunteering to assist or learning more about the event, please reach out to the committee at VHAMUSCreativeArts@va.gov or Katelynn Quinn at (918) 781-3643.
Dates to remember: deadline for entries to our local competition is July 25, 2025.
