✨You might think being a therapist is just sitting around talking all day… but there’s actually a surprising amount of multitasking happening behind the scenes.

Listening deeply.�Tracking themes.�Holding space.�
✨Watching the time without looking like you’re watching the time.

✨So when the clock stops working it’s honestly like someone unplugged 30% of my executive functioning.
Suddenly I’m questioning everything.�
✨Is it minute 42 or minute 68?�
Are we wrapping up or settling in?�
Who am I without a functioning wall clock?
Therapists: calm on the outside.�
✨Internally calculating session math at all times.

✨I’m seriously impressed by how fast an anxious brain can run through every possible scenario before we even know what actually happened.

✨One small moment and suddenly we’re replaying conversations, predicting consequences, and deciding it must be our fault — all in about 30 seconds.

✨It’s taken me a long time to take some of the intensity out of that spiral. Not by eliminating it completely, but by learning to pause and remind myself:

Maybe nothing terrible is happening.�Maybe this is just a moment.�Maybe I can wait for the facts.
