Whether you see me at my aesthetics practice or in the primary care world; you know that I tend to ask a lot of questions & will put emphasis on all of the above.
Whether it's skincare, weight loss, blood pressure, hormones, etc... so much of our daily lives affects our health (even our skin appearance). The more you do for yourself outside of an office with me, the less you'll really need me
My goal in this world is to help you be the healthiest & happiest version of yourself.

SLEEP 💤💤💤 maybe my favorite thing!

You will hear me question your sleep no matter which setting you see me in!
Mood, hormones, weight, stress, anxiety, & skin are just a few things that can be affected by lack of sleep. Whether I am seeing a patient for anxiety, weight, or hormones; we will discuss sleep & my recommendations.
As providers, yes there's medications we can give for all your complaints, but if we do not address the root cause then we are just "spitting on the fire."
Me personally would rather resolve the fire & you not need medicine.
Our bodies cannot work properly without the proper sleep & nutrients.
I will always encourage heavy lifting & you guessed it....

Since I support full transparency… just so my patients know that I struggle too.
This is my water, still full at 530 leaving work. Still full from its 830am fill up.

Yep, I’m a work in progress.

Drink your water!

I often have a serious conversations with patients about the type of exercise they participate in, especially my women in mid 30s & up. HIIT exercises are great & I love them, however they don't always love us.
As we experience perimenopause & menopause, the drop in progesterone can change how we respond to the exercises we've always done. Progesterone helps our body & mind deal with stress, but when it's lessened/gone, our body does not function the same. Another thing that happens at the same time is weight gain.
So what does this have to do with HIlT & exercise?
When we participate in intense exercise programs, we are actually stressing our bodies. (Yes we want some stress).
Without progesterone to help manage stress, those exercises can work against you, it really is a double edge sword for some.
Exercises that are easy on your cortisol, help reduce belly weight, & great for overall health:
-yoga
-walking
-weight lifting (without intensity) you can lift heavy
-outside activity

I am beyond excited that so many providers are learning that hormones matter. The WHI initiative in the early 2000s was flawed in so many ways.

I was fortunate that in the beginning of my career I was able to attend conferences with Dr.Pamela Smith. Now the amount of researchers, scientist, & providers standing up for women & that suffering through hormone changes, it’s not only needed but can actually be deterimental to her longevity life

My patients will tell you that I spend a lot of time talking about fiber
o there is a huge reason for this.
FIBER IS AMAZING!!
Fiber will positively effect on your appetite, waistline, blood sugar, and overall health t
Soluble fiber can help lower blood sugar, lower insulin levels, balance hormone levels, aide estrogen metabolism, reduce the risk of breast cancer, support the absorption of vitamins and minerals, promote a feeling of fullness, and nourish your gut microbiome for better gut health!!
Due to all its benefits, fiber can greatly improve chronic conditions which in turn helps you just feel better.
How much I recommend my patients consume depends on multiple tactors, but frequently I recommend 30 to 50 grams of fiber daily, particularly the soluble kind found in fruits vegetables f, beans, nuts, seeds, and whole grains. Talk to your P*P about what they recommend.

Most of us know that we aren't suppose to "eat within 3 hours of bedtime."

However, many of us do not really know why.. do you?
Our bodies work in rhythms & cycles, which our often associated with light and darkness patterns. Even our pancreas (produces insulin) gets sleepy when melatonin rises. This means that when the sun goes down, in order to promote sleep and ultimately repair, our melatonin begins to rise. Then ideally, it will stay elevated until you see light in the morning.

That also means that from sundown to sun up, melatonin is inhibiting insulin release from our pancreas. This leads to elevated overnight glucose levels if we choose to eat something that has carbohydrates in it. We can look at it as our pancreas sleeping & not releasing insulin.

This is why I don't advocate eating late or super early.

Sometimes I'll practice what I preach & take care of me!

Take the quick drive to my doc Dr.Chamness at PHP.

I've always thought she was great & now beyond happy for her that she is able to give her patients the time they need!

If you need a P*P (and aren't already my patient🤣) you should see about joining PHP, there are so many benefits! Dr. Corey Chamness

You may be asking why I am talking about
BPA when addressing seasonal allergies..

IgE cells is what causes our allergy response (immune response). Due to elevated IgE our bodies may react to more irritants. This is why l often discuss environmental/food choices with individuals with allergies. Did you know you can even have inflammation in your esophagus from IgE elevation?? It's true!

So if you have allergies or love someone who does...consider removing some sources of BPA. BPAs are in everything (even clothes) but some things you could avoid are:
- plastic- bottles, storage, etc.
- receipts
• dental sealants
- canned goods that are BPA lined
You likely cannot avoid BPAs entirely, but start with little changes you can make to lower exposure!! Eating your vegetables can help rid the body of BPA as well.

When we are discussing your health & weightloss goals, not only will we discuss protein, but we will discuss your Vitamin D usage as well!

Did you know that an article released in the Journal of International of Sports & Nutrition in 2020, concluded that "vitamin D doses determined from the plasma concentration of 25(OH)D of individuals to match their specific needs can significantly reduce muscle cell damage induced by eccentric exercise."

This means with appropriate supplementation, you will recover quicker from your weighted exercise!
