Are you feeling overwhelmed by pressure and stress within your family life? Don’t worry; you’re not alone! In fact, around 80% of American adults report feeling stressed at some point throughout the day.

We’ve put together a few suggestions that could help to reduce the stress you and your family may experience.

1. Know your stress cues. Do you become forgetful, short-tempered, and clumsy? Observe your other family members for signs of stress and ask them to do the same for you.

2. Practice deep breathing or mindfulness. When you begin to become anxious, try sitting and breathing for a few minutes.

3. Use your support system to talk about your feelings.

When you build a relationship with a therapist, rather than only going when you feel pressured or when you’re in crisis mode, you allow yourself to have a partner in your mental health that is ready to stand by you at all costs to assure your growth and safety are a priority.

Going to a therapist regularly can help you not just prepare for the hard times but also allow you to grow beyond specific experiences where you previously may have felt limited.

We desire for all of our patients to have a consistent mental health partner in their life, and if you feel that’s something you need, give us a call or contact us on our site. We’d love to help you start the journey or growth in your life today.

Remember, putting yourself, and your mental health first is not selfish.

While childhood should be a time of magic and wonder, it is sometimes tricky. Children sometimes need therapy to maintain mental health, whether they have survived trauma, live with a mental health condition, or need help with a significant life transition.

Because children see the world differently than adults, it’s essential to take your child to a therapist who specializes in helping them.

We proudly offer pediatric counseling online and in person.

If you’re familiar with the book “The Body Keeps the Score,” you know all about just how trauma can affect not just your mindset but the cells that make up your body. If you haven’t read that book, we encourage you to learn more about it.

Generational trauma doesn’t necessarily have to be limited to physical or sexual abuse. Trauma can be defined as anything that has negatively impacted who you are today, and we now understand that it most likely hasn’t started with your parents– it’s generational. You’re most likely not the only one who has experienced it.

The good news? It can stop with you. If you are aware that your family has generational trauma, you can be the one to change the course for the better.

Simply reach out to us to get connected with a licensed therapist.

Different therapists approach client relationships in various ways. Some are active in the session, while others take a more passive approach. So it’s important to ask yourself whether your particular therapist’s approach fits you and your needs.

At its core, therapy is a relationship, and it’s very important that the therapist you choose is someone you trust, respect, and even like! Essentially, the person companioning you on your therapy journey should make you feel like they “get” you.

It can be difficult to assess whether that connection is a right fit through an online profile or even from an initial session. It’s often useful to consider the first few sessions as an “assessment” of whether you feel comfortable or that they are a good fit for you and the issues you want to resolve.

Not all human beings fit well together. That is normal and okay!

The important thing is finding the therapist that fits your needs at this point in your life.

At Crossroads, we have a team of therapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, and physician assistants ready to meet your needs. Let us know how we can help by reaching out today!

Do not delay your growth and success by being your obstacle.

Be gentle with yourself and allow yourself to make mistakes, to make things imperfectly, as this will allow you to learn something in the process. 💖

As John C. Maxwell once said, "If you want to grow, you need to overcome any fear you have of making mistakes."

Do you agree? Share your thoughts in the comments! 💖

What are triggers?

Triggers are things that evoke emotional reactions based on a previous traumatic experience you’ve had. They can be internal or external responses that spark a fight, flight, freeze, or fawn within our reaction. When triggers make you react negatively, this means that there is a place in your history that needs healing.

There is no shame in being triggered. You can have hope to overcome this and receive help to heal.

And always remember, your healing journey is unique because your story is unique.

If you want to discover more, we would be happy to help you wherever you are on your journey. We are here for you.
