Keeping this Winter Storm Warming in mind, the office is DEFINITELY closed Tuesday and most likely closed Wednesday.

Stay home and warm and check in on your elderly family members and neighbors often the rest of this week.

If you have BCBS Federal, your benefit Administrator is TruHearing (go to www.TruHearing.com for more information and to enroll in hearing services).

As of January 1, 2024, BCBS Federal requires additional paperwork for benefit considerations. If you currently wear hearing aids that were fitted through another provider, you should obtain a copy of your most current hearing exam to bring to your appointment. In addition, BCBS may ask questions such as:

What date did your current hearing aids' warranty expire?

Why are you seeking new hearing aids?

If you have never worn hearing aids before, the audiologist will review your hearing exam with you to determine if you qualify for hearing aids through the BCBS Fed program.

TruHearing provides the highest quality hearing aid benefit solutions, reconnecting seniors and all ages to the richness of life.

One of the most common misnomers patients have regarding Bluetooth features and hearing aids is that you "must" have access to an App (application) or connection to a cellular phone to use their new hearing aids. Some may avoid seeking new hearing aids because they feel the technology would be too complicated to learn.

These notions are false.

Once programmed by your audiologist to your hearing loss, hearing aids run themselves for the most part. Having the ability to make small adjustments with an App or listen to a phone conversation through your hearing aids are "perks" that enhance the hearing aid fitting.

I have several patients who use old flip phones or who simply choose to remain "off the grid" and do not use any of these features.
