August is National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM). The CDC reports that vaccination coverage among kindergartners remains at its lowest level in decades, having declined nationally in the two years after the pandemic. This translates to up to 750,000 young learners that who are potentially susceptible to vaccine-preventable diseases.

Healthcare providers can help families catch up on vaccination by:
1. Reminding patients that vaccines that are required for school entry
2. Helping share the facts about vaccine-preventable diseases
3. Making strong recommendations
4. Helping make vaccines accessible
