Did you know that Naturopathic Doctors aren’t licensed in every state?
It’s Naturopathic Medicine Week, and while we’re celebrating the power of this holistic, root-cause approach to health, we also need to talk about something important:
Licensure.
Currently, only 24 U.S. states, plus DC and the U.S. territories, license Naturopathic Doctors (NDs). That means in many places—including Michigan—NDs are unable to practice to the full extent of their training and expertise.
Despite completing 4+ years of accredited medical education, board exams, and clinical training, NDs in pre-licensed states often face limitations that make it harder for the public to access quality naturopathic care.
But here’s the good news: licensure efforts are actively underway in several states, including right here in Michigan.
We’re advocating for greater recognition, regulation, and protection—for patients and practitioners alike.
If you believe in accessible, root-cause-focused, whole-person healthcare… we could use your voice.
Whether you’re a patient, practitioner, or simply someone who believes in choice and holistic options, your support matters.
