Maynord’s Recovery Center has been leading the way in substance abuse and addiction treatment services for 35 years. Helping men and women over the age of 18 abstain from the use of drugs and alcohol and maintain long term sobriety.Located near Yosemite National Forest and in the foothills in the Sierra Nevada our 22 acre ranch is in a serene setting with walking trails around a beautiful pond, there is a basketball court, Volleyball court with sand, plenty of outside sports equipment and an exercise room. We have developed a unique approach to drug and alcohol treatment through Peer support, Individual and group counseling followed up with family program. 2 years of continuing care is strongly suggested. We also have structured Clean and Sober living homes available upon completion of our treatment program over the years they have been proven to have a very high success rates for those who choose to live in a safe drug and alcohol free environment. Most treatment centers have programs that replicate and limit what they offer to their clientele, but at Maynord’s Recovery Center we have set ourselves apart from this repetitive process by incorporating Serenity retreats, long term continuing care, sober living and our yearly Round Up where our alumni, family and friends get together and camp out at Maynord’s for a weekend of fun filled activities for all. Our staff knows the disease of addiction, and they also know that not everyone is the same and we take that in consideration when helping you create your treatment plan.

September is the 9th month, and in recovery that reminds us of Step 9: “Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.” 💛

Making amends isn’t just about saying “sorry.” It’s about living differently, showing change through action, and building peace within ourselves and with others.

Dick Van D**e once told a studio audience that the laughs they’d heard for years were hiding his alcoholism. Behind the slapstick falls, the charm of The Dick Van D**e Show and Mary Poppins, he was drinking so heavily that he sometimes couldn’t remember rehearsals.

On camera, he was America’s joyful clown. Off camera, he was stumbling into studios, terrified he’d lose everything He hid it for decades. Directors said he’d apologize constantly, cracking jokes to cover the smell of whiskey. His natural buoyancy
- the pratfalls, the wide smile - made it almost impossible for audiences to see the pain. “Comedy is easier when you’re broken inside,” he later confessed.

The turning point came in the late ‘70s, when he collapsed on set and finally entered rehab. Even then, he cracked wise about being the “world’s clumsiest drunk.” But recovery forced him to strip away the clown mask. He admitted to fans, “I was dying inside, and laughed my way through it.”
What makes Van D**e extraordinary isn’t just survival - it’s the way he turned vulnerability into fuel. In his later years, he became startlingly open about depression, addiction, and aging. While Hollywood hid its elders, Van D**e danced. Literally. At 95, he was posting videos of himself singing and two-stepping in his living room, proving joy wasn’t denial anymore — it was choice.

Dick Van D**e’s story isn’t just about pratfalls and perfect smiles. It’s about a man who spent years laughing to cover his pain — and then, somehow, found a way to laugh because he’d finally made peace with it.

🌟 Staff Spotlight: Frank Barrera 🌟

Meet Frank, one of the dedicated members of our Client Support team here at Maynords Recovery Center. Frank brings personal insight, compassion, and overnight dedication to the work he does every day (or rather, every night!)

Frank says, “My name is Frank Barrera, I am 35 years old. I am dedicated to making a positive impact here at Maynords Recovery Center. I bring personal insight and compassion to my role in the client support office, where I work overnight. I hold a Registered Alcohol and Drug Technician (RADT) certification and am committed to helping others on their recovery journeys.

I am actively involved in the recovery community, attending AA meetings regularly to find strength and motivation in our shared experiences. I truly love what recovery has given me today, and I am grateful to be surrounded by a great team here as well as many friends in recovery. With a passion for helping others and a deep understanding of the recovery process, I strive to be an integral part of our team, embodying hope and resilience.“
