🚨 “HELP! I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!” may be a familiar phrase—but when it’s your loved one, it’s no joke.

Falls among older adults are common, and they’re often linked to more than just physical decline. Cognitive changes—like reduced attention, judgment, and memory—can play a major role.

🧠 Melissa Dodson, MS, CCC-SLP, a speech-language pathologist at North Mississippi Medical Center, shares how executive functioning impacts fall risk and what you can do to help.

✅ Know the signs
✅ Encourage brain-boosting activities
✅ Talk to a provider about physical therapy and fall prevention

Let’s help our loved ones stay safe, sharp, and independent.

🧬 Think you know your cancer risk because of your family history? Think again.

Only 10% of cancer cases are linked to inherited genetic risk. That means most cancers - 65% - occur in people who aren’t considered high risk.

Angela Taylor, FNP and certified genetic counselor, breaks down the myths and facts about cancer genetics in her latest blog. From who should consider genetic testing to how screening guidelines apply even if you test negative - this is a must-read for anyone navigating cancer risk.

💡 Genetic counseling can guide screening and prevention. And it’s more accessible than ever. Many patients pay little to nothing out of pocket.
