We Remember and Honor Two of Our Founders -

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of two beloved founders of Sanctuary Hospice — Joyce Riley on June 15th and Smitty Harris on July 6th.

In the earliest days, when the dream of a hospice house in our community felt nearly impossible, these two beautiful souls rose to the occasion. Their vision, determination, and unwavering compassion helped turn that dream into the Sanctuary we know today.

More than a decade ago, we captured the Sanctuary story in the words of our founders (link below) — Joyce and Smitty’s legacies are woven deeply into that story. Their impact lives on in every room of the Hospice House and in every family we are privileged to serve.

If your loved one ever passed through the doors of the nonprofit we all know as Sanctuary, Joyce and Smitty are part of that reason. Our community is better because of them, and we are forever grateful to have been a part of their life’s story.

We join their families in mourning their loss, and we celebrate the legacy they leave behind. 💛

🎶🕺 Greased lightning hit the Greenhouses this week! 💃🍦
We had a blast from the past celebrating in full 50s style today with our friends at Methodist Senior Services Greenhouses! From poodle skirts to coke floats, the jukebox was jumpin’ and the smiles were contagious.
