Did you know PCOS is one of the most leading causes of female infertility? Affecting 6-12% of women worldwide.

The exact cause of PCOS is unknown, but doctors speculate it to be contributed to various reasons.

I was recently given a diagnosis of PCOS, without having any diagnostic tests run by my doctor.

While I’ll be honest, I’m struggling with this diagnosis. I’m also scared of what this means for my future: having biological children, my overall health and mental well-being, and the higher risk of cancer that PCOS predisposes me to.

Some symptoms of PCOS that you should consult a doctor if you have:

Abnormal/heavy/absent menstruation
Unwanted hair
Mood swings
Trouble losing weight
Infertility
Depression

I’m currently waiting for further tests and answers from my doctor. I want you to know, you’re not alone. If this is something you’re currently going through, or you know someone who is struggling with this - YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

You are seen. You are heard. And you are understood by me.

Sending love for you on your journey. ❤️🦋

Hey friends!

I’ve been a little MIA lately, I’ve taken a small break for my mental health but I’m back and ready to jump back into the swing of things!!

Today’s topic is postpartum depression and anxiety.

PPD/PPA presents itself in vastly different ways than we may be used to. For example: struggling to bond with baby, inadequacy, the “what have I done” feeling and frequent mood swings.

There is no shame in seeking help for PPD/PPA, if you believe you may be at risk for either speak to your OBGYN.

Develop a relationship with those around you so they feel comfortable pointing it out to you if you don’t recognize it in yourself.

You are loved! ❤️

Why her and not me?

Is that a question that races through your mind when you see another woman embracing her newborn? Or when you’re scrolling Facebook and see yet another pregnancy announcement? Do you ever wish people would stop asking “when are you going to have one?” Or maybe you want your honest response to be “IM TRYING!”

1 in every 10 women are struggling with infertility, while 1 in 4 are grieving from pregnancy loss.

I want you to know, my page is a safe place for you. To grieve, to scream, to ask for prayers, or cry. If the content of this page is too much for you to handle right now, there’s no hard feelings if you unfollow me.

God’s timing is far better than ours. Although hard to understand, he is preparing you for something bigger.

Sending love ❤️

Let’s talk birth plans 🤰🏼

Have you thought about what you want your birth experience to look like?

Labor can be scary and unpredictable, but having flexible plans can help calm your nerves and aid your experience to go smoothly.

What is a birth plan? A document that helps your healthcare team know your preferences in terms of pain management, care in labor and postpartum, and newborn procedures.

Some things to consider:

✨ Most birth plans begin with the assumption that a vaginal delivery will happen, but because plans can change - be flexible and include cesarean preferences in your plan.

✨ Do your research before developing a birth plan. It’s important to know what you believe and why you believe it. Why are there procedures you do or don’t want done? Be educated!

✨ Understand that you may have to sign refusal consents for certain standard hospital practices.

✨ Make choices that are best for you and your babe. Don’t feel guilty about your decisions and advocate for yourself or appoint a family member or doula to advocate for you.

Some things to consider researching for your birth plan:

❤️ What method of numbing, if any, would you like used? Spinal or epidural. (For cesarean)

❤️ Wireless monitoring or ability to unplug to labor.

❤️ Ability to play your own music in your labor and delivery room or in the operating room.

❤️ In the case of a cesarean, consider asking your doctor if you can have one arm free to touch your baby after delivery.

❤️ Golden hour or skin-to-skin. In the operating room this may look different, but speak to your doctor about immediate skin to skin or allowing your partner to do skin to skin while you are in surgery and recovery.

❤️ Breastfeeding. Decide how you will feed your baby, and if you have to supplement what you prefer to use. Most breastfeeding moms prefer to use colostrum that was collected in the last weeks of pregnancy. Speak to your doctor about early colostrum collection as it can induce labor.

❤️ Any infant care practices, such as vitamin K, erythromycin eye drops, delayed cord clamping, vernix preservation, hepatitis b vaccine, circumcision, delayed bathing, and placenta preservation.

With the current formula shortage, we are seeing many moms showing interest in breastfeeding. It’s important to note, breastfeeding isn’t just putting the infant to your breast. Breastfeeding is a full-time job, with lots of learning curves in the first weeks of life. This does not make breastfeeding impossible, it just takes time for mom and baby to learn together. It’s okay if your goals are to exclusively pump, breastfeed for a short amount of time or a long amount of time, or breastfeed with formula supplementation. You are seen and supported whichever way you choose to feed your infant. If you choose to feed from the breast frequent stimulation (infant nursing or pumping) is the best way to encourage mature milk production in the first days of life. I encourage all moms to find a lactation consultant or breastfeeding support group in your area! Have questions about breastfeeding? Send me a message. Live in the Tupelo area? Send me a message and I can connect you with a breastfeeding support group and fantastic lactation consultants. Sending love! ❤️👶🏼

Welcome to my account! My name is Cassie, and I am a postpartum/newborn nurse. I truly enjoy all that comes with Women’s and Children’s health, specifically holistic and natural remedies. I believe a woman’s body was made for child-bearing/birthing and the effects of that are always mind blowing to me. I have always hoped to become either a certified doula or a nurse midwife and I am hoping to make steps towards one or both of these goals in the future. I am always trying to extend my knowledge of women’s and newborn health and hope to share what I learn with you. As well as provide encouragement for you to press forward in your journey, whether that be TTC, infertility, miscarriage, pregnancy, or postpartum. I can’t wait to bring you on this journey! 👩🏻‍🍼
