As Women’s History Month comes to a close, we take a moment to reflect on purpose, perseverance, and the power of showing up.

In 2020, in the midst of uncertainty, we (Carmen and Krista) took a leap of faith and built a vision rooted in personal growth, hope, and revival. What started simply as a fleeting idea has grown into a space where individuals, couples, and families are supported every day.

As a Black-owned, women-owned business, we carry not only our professional roles, but our lived experiences, resilience, and commitment to breaking barriers, especially in mental health spaces where representation matters.

We are grateful for every client who has trusted us. We are grateful for every lesson that has shaped us. And we are grateful for every opportunity to continue this journey.

Here’s to women who build, lead, heal, and rise... not only during the month of March but every day.

One thing we know for sure at DDCC, Black history is not just something we celebrate in February. It shows up every day in our strength, our stories, our healing, and our growth.

We also recognize that for many in our community, finding safe and culturally affirming mental health care hasn’t always been easy. That’s why we remain intentional about creating spaces that are empathetic, nonjudgmental, and culturally sensitive for all individuals.

And as this month wraps up…

The mission doesn’t stop.

The work doesn’t pause.

The healing continues.

A step in the right direction…

J.P. Morgan said, “The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide you’re not going to stay where you are.”

This statement serves as a reminder that your current situation can change for the better once you make your mind up to do something different. To do this, you must be action oriented recognizing nothing in life changes if nothing changes.

This New Year, the ladies at Day to Day Counseling are ready to assist you in the action steps needed to catapult you into that ”somewhere” of your dreams. All it takes is a made up mind, a will to move, and a call to us. We’re waiting and ready when you are.

Tis the season to be jolly: Is it really????

“Tis the season to be jolly
But how can I be when I have nobody”.

Listening to this old song by The Emotions really stopped me in my tracks as I reflected on how so many people are dreading the upcoming holidays because a loved one has passed on either by force or choice. So, I decided to share a few tips on how to survive the holidays.

I hope this helps and know the ladies at Day To Day Counseling are willing to support you if and when needed!!

National Hazing Prevention Week 9/22-9/26

At Day to Day Counseling & Consulting, we believe true belonging never requires harm. Hazing, often disguised as tradition or “bonding”, can leave lasting scars on mental health.

55% of college students involved in clubs, teams, or organizations report being hazed.

Among athletes, the rate rises to 74%.

Nearly half of hazing survivors (49.2%) experience moderate to severe emotional distress.

Since 2000, over 100 lives have been lost due to hazing-related incidents.

Behind these statistics are real people navigating depression, anxiety, shame, PTSD, and even suicidal thoughts. Hazing doesn’t just test physical endurance, it deeply impacts mental health and well-being.

This week, we encourage everyone to speak up when something feels unsafe or humiliating; support those who may be hurting in silence; create safe, meaningful ways for groups to connect without harm; and/or normalize conversations about mental health and reaching out for help.

Together, we can build communities where growth, hope, and revival take root, not trauma.

JUNETEENTH: A Legacy of Liberation and Resilience

Today, we pause to reflect on the enduring legacy of slavery and the ongoing struggle for racial equality and justice.

Juneteenth, celebrated each year on June 19th, marks the 1865 emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States — a freedom declared over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation and two months after the end of the Civil War.

At Day to Day Counseling and Consulting, we honor this day by uplifting the culture, resilience, and achievements of African Americans. We believe mental healthcare should reflect the rich cultures and lived experiences of the communities we serve. May we continue to reflect, learn, and move forward — together.

Every day, we stand for Growth. Hope. Revival.

Let us continue to break barriers, embrace differences, and heal together — one day at a time.

✨ Real is Relatable ✨

That’s such a powerful and freeing reminder. When you let people see the messy, flawed, goofy reality of you, you're giving them a gift. Some may not understand it—but others will smile with relief and say, "Oh thank GOODNESS. I'm not the only one!" That kind of authenticity fosters connection in a world that often pressures us to be polished and perfect.

💚 Keep showing up as your full, authentic self. You never know who needs that reminder today. 💚

Grief doesn’t doesn’t always look the same or follow a timeline — and that’s okay.

At , we want to remind you that healing takes time. Grief can be extremely complex and everyone’s grief journey is unique. Whether you’ve lost a loved one, a relationship, a job, a season of life, or a version of yourself — healing can feel heavy.

Here are a few tips for managing grief:

1. Feel your feelings – Your feelings are valid. Give yourself permission to grieve. There’s no “right” way to mourn. Feel what you feel without judgment. Don’t rush to "be okay." Let yourself cry, be angry, or sit in silence. Emotions need space to breathe.

2. Talk it out – Connect with others. Sharing your experience with someone who listens without trying to fix it can be healing. Share memories, frustrations, or just your heart with someone you trust. Don't be afraid to seek professional support from a licensed professional. You don’t have to carry it all alone.

3. Create a ritual – Honor your loss and the happy memories. Keeping or creating new practices gives space for remembrance. Light a candle, journal, and/or honor your loss with a meaningful gesture.

4. Protect your peace – Set boundaries with people who minimize your grief or push you to “move on.” Separate yourself from situations, people, things, and environments that bring negative energy.

5. Take care of your body – Grief impacts the body and the mind. Sleep, hydrate, eat nourishing foods, take deep breaths, and move gently.

6. Be patient with your process – Healing is not linear, and you don’t have to rush. Give yourself grace. You may have good days/moments mixed in with bad days/moments; but always remember, that is a part of the grieving process.

is proud to have Keona Harris, LPC, on our clinical team. She is EMDR certified and specializes in helping clients work through trauma and complicated grief using evidence-based approaches.

You’re not alone. We’re here when you’re ready.

Healing is possible—one day at a time.

Honoring Bravery, Prioritizing Healing

This Memorial Day, we honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

As we remember their sacrifice, we acknowledge the silent battles many continue to face. We also recognize the emotional toll military service can take on veterans, families, and communities.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month—a time to remind ourselves that healing isn’t just physical. Grief, trauma, and emotional wounds are real, and support is essential. Take time to check in on yourself and your loved ones.

Healing is not a sign of weakness — it's an act of strength.

Let’s honor their legacy by continuing to fight the stigma around mental health and advocating for support, care, and compassion.

Every story of service deserves the care it needs.
