"When I first walked in, I was in so much pain, but I felt the warmth, and the receptionist was awesome. She saw my pain, and she came out and got my information - very sweet and helpful. Once in the back, the nurse was awesome as well - helping me, didn’t rush me or anything. I appreciate them so. Need more people like them. Then, once in the room, the doctor came in. Well, now he was not like any other doctor I’ve been around. He was funny but down to business. He listened to me and my daughter and let us know what he saw in my X-rays, and checked my feet and the strength of my bones. He was just awesome as well. They made me feel like they care, and sick people and hurt people need that type of welcoming. Thumbs up, you guys." -S.B.

It is with immense sadness that we share the passing of our beloved teammate, Tina Fears (pictured left).

Always cheerful, Tina radiated positivity and was a wonderful friend to all who knew and loved her. Her love for her family and her faith were at the forefront of any conversation.

We are so grateful for the seven years we had with Tina as our friend and co-worker at SOG.

Please keep her husband Chris and her sons, Crispus, Devon, and Tucker in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Dr. Lutz, a double board-certified interventional pain management specialist and anesthesiologist, will practice in Oxford.

"As a board-certified interventional pain physician, I take a multidisciplinary approach to treating patients’ chronic pain. I use a combination of medication management, interventional procedures, and advanced pain management techniques to treat my patients. My goal is to reduce your pain as much as possible and to increase your ability to do the things that you enjoy. The most rewarding part of my job is when a patient returns to clinic with a story about how their life has improved."

Congratulations to Dr. Chad Altmyer’s son, Luke Altmyer, and the University of Illinois Fighting Illini’s 30-28 victory over the University of Tennessee in yesterday's Music City Bowl!!

Luke was named Most Valuable Player for the bowl game.

Founded in 2015 in Tupelo, MS, Specialty Orthopedic Group (SOG) has grown from two doctors and three employees to a team of over 100 people and three locations. With nine surgeons, three nurse practitioners, and one physician’s assistant, SOG is the largest group of sub-specialized surgeons in north Mississippi and is home to the only privately-owned outpatient surgery center in north Mississippi. Specialty Orthopedic Group specializes in orthopedic surgery of the hand, wrist, and elbow; foot and ankle conditions; shoulder, hip, and knee replacement; revision total joint surgery; sports medicine; cervical, thoracic, and lumbosacral spine; and hip preservation and arthroscopy. All of Specialty Orthopedic Group's surgeons are fellowship-trained and operate exclusively in their area of sub-specialized training.

SOG’s state-of-the-art clinic, surgery center, and physical therapy facility in Tupelo, as well as clinic locations in New Albany and Oxford, Mississippi and Hamilton, Alabama (opening Summer 2020) offers a host of orthopedic treatment options for patients in north Mississippi, west Alabama, south Tennessee, and beyond.
