Meet Dr. Johanna Lu, MD, ABPN, Co-Founder and Medical Director of Arise Psychiatry! Dr. Lu is a board-certified psychiatrist who has been caring for patients of all ages since 2014. Her career spans from New York City to Mississippi, where she has served in clinical, mentorship, and leadership roles, all grounded in her commitment to compassionate, evidence-based mental health care.
Originally from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Dr. Lu earned her medical degree magna cm laude from UNIBE School of Medicine. She completed her psychiatry residency at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center, a Weill Cornell Medical College program, where she served as chief resident.
Dr. Lu has spoken at the United Nations and is a passionate advocate for women’s mental health, especially during pregnancy. When she’s not supporting patients, you can find her traveling, spending time with family, or enjoying video games — a reminder that even experts in mental health value fun and balance.
