Methodist Senior Services is pleased to announce that Loretta Wadlington has been selected as the 2025 Employee of the Year for LeadingAge Southeast at their 62nd Annual Convention & Exposition at the Ga***rd Palms Resort & Convention Center in Kissimmee, Florida.

Loretta was celebrated for her 40 years of service as Executive Assistant to the President, serving as the organization’s steady hand, institutional memory, and trusted advisor across all levels of leadership.

During the awards presentation held Wednesday morning, team members detailed how Loretta has been instrumental in keeping MSS running smoothly. From managing complex schedules and coordinating high-level meetings across multiple states to ensuring seamless communication across all departments, her ability to anticipate needs, streamline operations, and uphold meticulous attention to detail has benefited not only the President but also the entire organization.

Last week, we wrapped up Session #3 of the 2025 Beth and Henry Brevard Celebration of Leadership. The theme for this session was Empowerment and Engagement.

We discussed “Disrupting the Status Quo of Senior Living” by Jill Vitale-Aussem, Levels of Culture Engagement, “Vulnerability” by Brene Brown and toured the MS Civil Rights Museum.

As a special blessing, we listened as Board Member Juanita Floyd shared her transformational story. We left feeling inspired, asking how can we empower and engage Elders and Team Members on the MSS campuses, and looking forward to the next and last session for this year's class on Vision and Hope in September!

Meals on Wheels of Lee County, an outreach ministry of Mississippi Methodist Senior Services, is truly grateful for the $50,000 grant from E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Foundation.

On July 8, 2025, John Richter, Division Manager for Carpenter Company, and Jeremy Gardner, Sales Representative for Carpenter Company, presented the check to Ashley McDaniel, Executive Director for Meals on Wheels of Lee County.

Five days a week, over a hundred senior adults in Lee county area experience hot, nutritional meals delivered by volunteers.

Volunteers’ visits are more than delivering a hot meal. They provide smiles, hugs, and safety checks.

2025 Maintenance Director Summit
Last week the all of the Maintenance Directors from around the state attended an educational summit at the Home Office hosted by Tim Barber, Director of Construction and Property, and Christie Vance, President/CEO of MSS.

The group spent two days learning about servant leadership in action, putting safety first (from Eastern Alliance), sharpening their TELS skills (by Direct Supply), how to manage vendors and contracts , tricks of emergency management (from EMA), updates in accounting, hiring, project management, and IT, as well as controlling pests (by Northeast Exterminating) and fire prevention/drills (from the Fire Marshall).

The crammed-packed two day session was full of fun and fellowship as well as timely education. The session closed with a word of edification from Christie Vance, President/CEO of MSS, where she shared the Vision Forward for MSS and invited the Directors to provide feedback on things that would make MSS the best it can be.

We are excited to invest time and energy into the people that care directly for the Elders and our campuses - and our maintenance teams around the state are among the most critical members of our family.

The third annual MSS Inspire: Sales, Marketing, and Communications Summit has officially come to a close, and what an incredible experience it was in beautiful Long Beach, Mississippi!

This summit serves as a dedicated development opportunity for our sales, marketing, and communications teams across Methodist Senior Services. The energy was truly inspiring. From collaborative learning sessions and meaningful conversations to a few lighthearted moments (including a spontaneous scavenger hunt at Buc-ee’s Tuesday evening), it was a celebration of our shared mission to serve older adults with dignity and compassion.

A heartfelt thank you to our guest presenters, including the outstanding team from Bell PR and Michelle Daniel, CEO of The Eden Alternative, for their insightful and engaging contributions.

At MSS, we are committed to ongoing professional development and growth so we can continue to serve older adults and their families across Mississippi with excellence. This summit is one of the many ways we invest in our people and strengthen our purpose driven culture.
