Shelia Doss is one of our longest‑tenured CNAs, proudly serving our residents for an incredible 41 years. Known affectionately as one of the “300 Hall Queens,” Shelia’s legacy is built on dedication, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to care.

Her impact reaches far beyond her shift—so much so that even her children know the nickname she’s earned through decades of hard work and heart. Shelia’s loyalty and kindness continue to make a lasting difference in our community every day.

🌟 Employee Spotlight: Suzanne Mitchell 🌟 Vaiden Community Living Center

Suzanne Mitchell has dedicated 28 years to the nursing field. She began her career as an LPN, serving for 15 years in roles such as Charge Nurse, Supervisor, Staff Development, and Treatment/Med Nurse. Driven by her passion for healthcare, Suzanne advanced her education and became an RN, where she spent 13 years working in diverse areas including the ER, Cardiac Unit, Infection Control, and as a Traveling Nurse. She also has an impressive 22 years of experience in Long-Term Care (LTC).
Four years ago, Suzanne joined the VCLC team as a Charge Nurse and has spent the past three years excelling as the MDS Coordinator.
Outside of work, Suzanne enjoys cooking, gardening, and yard work, as well as spending quality time with her children and grandchildren. Her favorite pastimes include watching Lifetime movies, medical shows, listening to country music, and enjoying outdoor activities like fishing and hunting. She also loves playtime with her beloved Standard Poodle, Razz.

What Brings You Joy? - Laurelwood Community Living Center

“My name is Joy—and yes, I bring myself to work almost every day! 😊

At Laurelwood, I’ve witnessed something truly special. One of our residents recently faced heartbreaking losses—two close friends and his mother. Just when he needed it most, a new roommate moved in… and guess what? They share the same birthday!

From day one, these two have been inseparable, laughing and getting into harmless mischief. The other day, I looked up from the nurses’ station and nearly fell out of my chair—they were dressed head-to-toe in neon outfits with glowing necklaces and fun headbands!

They bring each other joy through companionship, and they bring ME joy by reminding me of the power of friendship and laughter. These moments make my heart so happy.”
