March is National Athletic Training Month, and we’re proud to recognize the Athletic Trainers who care for student-athletes across North Mississippi through our partnership with Encore Rehabilitation.

Athletic Trainers are often the first to respond when an athlete goes down, the steady presence on the sidelines, and the trusted support behind every recovery. Their work goes far beyond the field, helping athletes stay healthy, safe, and ready to compete.

We’re grateful for these dedicated Athletic Trainers and the impact they make in their schools and communities:

Caden Mitchell, MS, LAT, ATC
Athletic Trainer serving North Pontotoc High School in Ecru, leading injury prevention, initial care management, and athlete wellness while building strong relationships with athletes and coaches.

Haley Ramey, LAT, ATC
Athletic Trainer at Tupelo Christian Preparatory School, supporting student-athletes across 13 sports in her third year working in the high school setting.

AJ Berry, LAT, ATC
Athletic Trainer serving South Pontotoc in Mississippi and providing coverage for Marion County Schools in Alabama.

Thank you for the long hours, the quick decisions, and the care you give athletes every day. Your work truly makes a difference!

Shoulder injections — why do we do them?

Shoulder injections are often used to reduce inflammation inside the joint or surrounding structures like the bursa or rotator cuff tendons. When inflammation settles down, pain improves, and movement becomes easier.

They can be especially helpful for conditions like:
• bursitis
• rotator cuff inflammation
• arthritis
• frozen shoulder

For some patients, an injection provides significant relief on its own. For others, it helps create a more comfortable window to fully participate in physical therapy and strengthen the shoulder properly.

At Mississippi Sports Medicine, injections are just one tool in a comprehensive treatment plan, always tailored to your diagnosis, goals, and lifestyle.

If shoulder pain is limiting you, we’re here to help you move forward with confidence.
