Key components of a great neurotoxin treatment:

1. An honest conversation. Respecting your budget is important, but using fewer units can affect both results and how long your treatment lasts. Clear expectations are essential.

2. A thoughtful treatment plan. Neurotoxin is just one tool. It should fit into a bigger strategy for aesthetic goals, prevention, and long-term results.

3. Follow-up matters. When needed, a check-in 2–3 weeks after treatment allows for adjustments and ensures you’re getting the best outcome.

No follow-up available? That’s a no-go for me. 😉

Pulled out a favorite. Sweatshirt from 1983 Suntory Ball Tournament in Osaka, Japan. Potentially one of the earliest Alabama sweatshirts made by Nike. Probably last time I wear this as it cannot take many more washes. Be sure to check out Tide Hoops History on X if you love great content.

Part 3 of 3: What to Expect After Your HA Filler Treatment

Your appointment doesn’t end when the syringe is down.

Before you leave, you should know:
• What swelling or bruising is normal
• When your final result should be visible
• What symptoms are not normal

Most importantly — you should have a clear follow-up plan.

Aesthetic treatments require assessment after the initial appointment. Refinement, reassurance, or addressing unexpected issues is part of responsible care. If an office does not offer follow-up, that’s a red flag. 🚩

The last thing you want after any procedure is to feel like you’re managing questions or concerns alone.

Great outcomes aren’t just about technique — they’re about ongoing support and accountability.

Part 2 of 3: If you get nothing else from this video: make double, triple sure there is a vascular occlusion emergency kit on site (with hyaluronidase/hylenex) BEFORE proceeding with HA filler treatment. If it is not available- this is a huge 🚩 that your safety is not being prioritized- do NOT proceed with treatment!

Part 1 of 3:Thinking about hyaluronic acid filler? Your consultation should never feel rushed.

Before any treatment, you should expect:

• A thorough medical history
• A detailed conversation about your goals — and a clear plan to achieve them
• Transparent pricing with no surprises
• An honest discussion of risks and realistic outcomes

Informed consent is not just a signature on a small-font form. It’s a conversation. It’s clarity. It’s trust.

If any of these steps are skipped or minimized, take a pause and reconsider. A thoughtful consultation is not optional — it’s essential.

Complications do not make someone a bad doctor. Asking for help from peers does not make someone a bad doctor. What is concerning is the ever increasing frequency of performing aesthetic treatments in often “injectable event” type settings and then not providing appropriate opportunity for follow-up. Part of the treatment is being prepared and available to manage complications or bad results if they occur.

Know what to look for in Sculptra before and afters. Immediate post-injection Sculptra “after” photos are not reflective of the true result of this treatment, and IMO should not be used as they are deceptive to patients.
