There’s nothing like a visit from furry friends to brighten the day at Capstone Village! 🐾💛

Our Assisted Living and Memory Care residents recently enjoyed a special visit from Hand in Paw’s animal assisted therapy team, featuring Maggie, a sweet black Labradoodle, and Tilly, an adorable Golden Retriever. From smiles and laughter to gentle pets and cuddles, these visits always bring so much joy and comfort to our residents.

We even met a few dog-loving Independent Living residents on our way out who couldn’t resist stopping to say hello! 🐶

Thank you to Hand in Paw, Maggie, and Tilly for sharing your love and bringing happiness to our community!

We are grateful for their courage, service, and dedication to protecting the freedoms we enjoy every day. Today, we pause to reflect, remember, and give thanks.

Our independent living residents recently enjoyed an incredible day trip to Moundville Archaeological Park and Museum in Moundville, AL and had the unique opportunity to experience history in action!

During the visit, residents met with an active archaeological dig team currently uncovering artifacts at the site. Thanks to Dr. Cameron Lacquement — associate professor at UA and director of undergraduate studies in anthropology — residents received firsthand insight into the excavation process and learned about the fascinating history of this important cultural site.

From exploring the museum to interacting with archaeologists in the field, it was a memorable day filled with learning, connection, and discovery. Experiences like these are just one of the many ways life at Capstone Village stays active, engaging, and enriching!

“Take me out to the ball game!” ⚾️

Our Memory Care residents had a fantastic time during their recent outing to TCAT Cares, where the theme of the day was Baseball! Residents enjoyed a lively game filled with smiles, laughter, cheers, and plenty of fun.

These videos capture some sweet moments of our residents stepping up to the plate and having a ball together. It was a day full of joy, excitement, and wonderful memories! We are so thankful for our partnership with TCAT Cares and the meaningful experiences they help create for our residents. ❤️

At Capstone Village, we believe learning never stops! 📚✨

We are proud of our partnership with Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at The University of Alabama and our shared commitment to lifelong learning for older adults. Throughout the year, we provide transportation for residents to attend OLLI classes daily, giving them opportunities to stay engaged, connected, and continue exploring new interests.

This past week, Capstone Village was honored to participate as a vendor at the OLLI Tuscaloosa Summer Showcase! Our team enjoyed meeting so many wonderful OLLI members, sharing information about life at Capstone Village, and connecting with individuals interested in making CV their future home.

We were especially proud to see several of our residents actively involved in the event by leading songs and representing the vibrant spirit of our community. We are also honored that both the outgoing and incoming OLLI presidents are Capstone Village residents — a wonderful reflection of the leadership, involvement, and lifelong learning embraced within our community.

Thank you to OLLI for a fantastic event and for continuing to inspire learning at every stage of life. 💙

The bags are flying at Capstone Village! 🎯🌽

Yesterday marked the exciting start of our Annual Co****le Tournament, and we kicked things off with 3 fun and competitive games! Residents brought their A-game, plenty of laughs, and lots of team spirit as the tournament officially got underway.

We can’t wait to see who takes home the championship title this year! Stay tuned for more tournament highlights and friendly competition ahead. 🏆

Capstone Village is looking for a Part-Time Driver to join our team!

This position is responsible for transporting residents to scheduled appointments and activities, assisting residents on and off transportation vehicles, helping with assistive devices, and supporting residents while away from Capstone Village. The role also helps cover unexpected transportation needs and special events with limited notice.

✅ Must be at least 19 years old
✅ Valid driver’s license required
✅ Have an Acceptable Motor Vehicle Report

Creativity was flowing at Capstone Village during our recent watercolor class with talented local artist Abi Brewer! 🎨✨

Residents always look forward to Abi’s classes, and this session was no exception. From beautiful brushstrokes to lots of laughter and conversation, it was a wonderful afternoon of creativity, connection, and fun.

This week at Capstone Village, we had the joy of hosting a special Mother’s Day Tea to celebrate the incredible women who make our community so special. 🌸☕💕

Some residents were joined by daughters, granddaughters, and loved ones, while others gathered together in friendship and fellowship — making the afternoon meaningful for everyone involved.

We are so grateful for each woman in our community and were honored to celebrate them in this small but heartfelt way. Thank you to everyone who helped make the day so memorable!

🎨 This month at Capstone Village, we are proud to showcase the beautiful work of one of our very own resident artists, Emily Mitchell!

After beginning her studies at The University of Alabama in 1968 and retiring as a school librarian in 2000, Emily rediscovered her passion for art through private lessons, workshops, and continued study in both oil and acrylic painting. Her talent and generosity have touched so many in our community through teaching painting classes, supporting local pet adoption fundraisers, and leading mural projects for the local cat adoption center. She is also a proud member of the Tuscaloosa Painters.

Most recently, Emily had the special honor of being included in Suzanne Wolfe’s downtown watercolor art studio.

We are so blessed to celebrate Emily’s creativity and talent this month — and even more grateful that she calls Capstone Village home. Be sure to stop by and enjoy her wonderful gallery display! 🖼️✨

🌮🎉 What a fiesta at Capstone Village! 🎉🍹

We had such a wonderful time celebrating Cinco de Mayo with our residents at yesterday’s Happy Hour! From festive flavors to refreshing margaritas, the afternoon was full of laughter, great company, and vibrant energy.
