🌟 Picky Eater at Home? You’re Not Alone! 🌟

Many toddlers go through a normal phase of picky eating — sometimes eating only one or two preferred foods for weeks at a time. It can feel frustrating, but this behavior is very common.

The good news? Kids often need repeated exposure — sometimes 10 or more times — before they warm up to a new food. So keep offering healthy options without pressure, and model the habits you want them to learn.

For practical, pediatrician‑approved tips on reducing mealtime battles and encouraging healthier eating, check out this great article from the American Academy of Pediatrics:
👉 “10 Tips for Parents of Picky Eaters”

Together, we can help your child build healthy habits one bite at a time. 💛🍎🥦

📲 Make Check-In Easier Than Ever!

We’re excited to remind you about a feature designed to save time and make your visit smoother: Online Patient Check-In!

Here’s how it works:

When you confirm your appointment, you’ll receive a text message inviting you to “Save time by completing check-in online.” Just click the link and follow the simple steps — and you can do this days before your appointment at a time that is convenient for you!

âś… With Online Check-In, you can:

— Review and update demographic information
— Verify insurance details and upload a photo of a new card if needed
— View and pay any outstanding balances for the entire family, including copays

đź’ˇ Important:

Be sure to hit Submit at the bottom of the payment screen to complete your check-in.
This feature does not replace letting us know you’ve arrived for your appointment. Please still check in at the front desk when you get here.

Completing your check-in early helps us serve you faster and makes your visit stress-free. Thank you for trusting us with your child’s care — we’re always working to make your experience better! 💙

New, Easier Ways to Prepare for Your Child’s Appointment!

We are excited to share new ways we are working to provide the same great care in an easier, more convenient way for families. These updates allow you to complete important steps on your time, before you arrive for your child’s appointment.

By completing these steps ahead of time, you can expect:

Shorter lobby wait times
Faster check‑in at your visit
Less paperwork and fewer distractions once you arrive

You will receive a few text messages before your appointment—each one has a different purpose and helps your visit run more smoothly.

âś… STEP 1
📱 Confirm Your Appointment

(Confirmation does NOT complete check‑in)

âś… STEP 2
🖥️ Complete Online Check‑In

• Review and update demographic information
• Make a payment if there is a balance
• Easily pay your copay before your visit

No need to juggle your phone, purse, or credit card while managing your child at check‑in.

âś… STEP 3
📝 Complete Well‑Visit Questionnaires

• Must be completed prior to your appointment date
• These are NOT after‑visit surveys

đź’ˇ Completing these steps at home helps prepare our staff for your visit.

Thank you for helping us make visits easier for families!

Why a Full Physical Exam Matters for Your Child’s Health

At West Alabama Pediatrics, we believe every child deserves comprehensive care. A full physical exam is more than just a quick check—it’s an important opportunity to:

âś… Monitor growth and development
âś… Screen for health concerns early
âś… Discuss nutrition, mental health, and safety
âś… Prepare for milestones like puberty

Talking with Your Child About Health

Parents play a key role in helping children understand why their health matters. Encourage open conversations about:

• The importance of regular checkups
• Changes during puberty
• Building trust with their doctor

Privacy and Safety

Teach your child that only trusted healthcare professionals (with a parent present) should examine private areas—and only for health reasons. This helps reinforce boundaries and safety.

Comfort Matters

We want every patient to feel comfortable and respected. If your family or child prefers a physician of a certain gender, please let our front office staff know when scheduling. Also, be sure to set your preferred physician as your child’s Primary Care Provider (P*P) so we can ensure continuity of care with someone you and your child trust. A strong doctor-patient relationship supports lifelong health.
