It is Hand Therapy Week!

Meet Sydney Thigpen, our Occupational Therapist. She’s from Trussville, AL and has been working at the Hoover TherapySouth clinic since August 2024. She graduated with her Master’s of Science in Occupational Therapy in 2021 from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She has worked at TherapySouth for 3 years treating as a hand therapist focusing on treatment of the upper extremity. She works on upper extremity injuries conservatively and sees post-op patients from a variety of injuries including but not limited to: trigger finger, wrist fractures/sprains, finger fractures/sprains, tendon and ligament injuries, carpal tunnel, cubital tunnel, hand pain/stiffness, and splint fabrications.

Sydney is a Certified Neuro Specialist and specializes in the treatment of patients who have acquired traumatic brain injuries and strokes.

We sponsored a team for the Breakthrough T1D Tuscaloosa Walk in honor of our clinic director’s father, Dr. Keith DeBell who has been a type 1 diabetic for over 60 years. He has also served the diabetic community of Tuscaloosa and west Alabama for over 30 years. It was fun day despite the rain and we look forward to participating in the future.

It’s a bittersweet day at the clinic as we say “ see you later” to our tech Bella, who has been an excellent addition to our team for the past two years. Bella will be starting PT school this fall & we are so excited to watch her thrive!! We have no doubt that she will an amazing therapist. Bella has positively impacted our patient’s rehab, and she will be sorely missed! Please wish her well as she starts this next chapter 🤍👏🏻
