Two days ago was World Water Day, so now is a great time to check how medicines are disposed of at home.

Flushing medicines or pouring them down the sink can affect water quality and the environment. It also matters how medications are disposed of to prevent children from accessing them.

Safer options include:
• Using community drug take-back programs or drop boxes when available.
• If disposal at home is necessary, mixing medicines with something unappealing like used coffee grounds or cat litter, sealing them in a bag, and placing them in the trash.

If you have questions about how to safely dispose of a specific medicine, you can call the Missouri Poison Center for advice.

🧽 🌸 Spring Cleaning? Clean Safely, Too! 🌸 🧽

Spring is the perfect time to freshen up your home — but some cleaning habits can create hidden hazards. Keep your family safe with these simple tips:

✔️ Don’t mix cleaners (especially bleach + ammonia — this can create dangerous fumes)
✔️ Open windows or use fans for good ventilation
✔️ Store chemicals out of reach of children and pets
✔️ Dispose of old or unused products properly — don’t pour them down the drain

A clean home should also be a safe home. Take a few extra steps to protect everyone this spring.
