This is an antique Civil War folding camp chair. The wooden frame chair crafted by the Reedsboro Chair Co features a blue and cream wool "carpet" seat. Chair folds down for easy transport making them popular with officers during America's Civil War.

Gray Dog Antiques and Estate Sales will be hosting an online auction for the funeral home items. I think they’re aiming to get it online around the end of this month. I’ll post it here on the page when it goes live.

As of September 15, 2025, Corbitt’s Funeral Home will close its doors. The Tuskegee, Macon County, and surrounding communities have truly been a blessing to us over the last 78 years. Many of you have been kind enough to honor our family with the chance to honor yours in some of your most difficult times. And many of you have been there for our family in some of our most difficult times. But change is inevitable. Obviously Tuskegee has changed tremendously over the last 60 years, and the state of the funeral industry as a whole and the local economy have made it impossible to keep going in this current situation. This was not an easy decision, and it’s one that was not made in haste.

On a personal note, thank you to so many of you who have become friends and family to me. I hope this won’t change that. I don’t take it lightly that you’ve trusted me to care for your family over the last 23 years of my time working at the funeral home. The hardest part of this decision was the feeling that I would somehow be letting you down. I’m not sure what the future holds for me, but I know that God is in control. Please keep us in your prayers over the next few months to help us navigate whatever decisions are required to be sure we remain in God’s will.

If you have a preneed funeral set up with me, I will be reaching out to you in the next couple of weeks to let you know how best to handle that.
