Your Guide to Good-bye Winter Blues!

Fighting the winter blues can be challenging, but naturopathic and integrative medicine offers a range of natural approaches that may help lift your mood and support overall well-being during the colder months. Here are some tips:

1. Light Therapy
Why: Reduced daylight in the winter can lead to a drop in serotonin levels, contributing to seasonal affective disorder (SAD) or the "winter blues."
How: Consider using a light therapy box with 10,000 lux of bright white light for 20-30 minutes every morning. It can help regulate your circadian rhythms and boost serotonin levels.

2. Vitamin D
Why: Vitamin D deficiency is common in winter due to less sunlight exposure. This can affect mood and contribute to depression-like symptoms.
How: Take a vitamin D3 supplement (especially if you live in a place with limited sunlight). The typical recommended dose is 1,000 to 4,000 IU per day, but consult with a healthcare provider for personalized advice.

3. Adaptogenic Herbs
Why: Adaptogens are herbs that help your body adapt to stress and maintain balance.
How: Herbs like Rhodiola, Ashwagandha, and Holy Basil may help support adrenal function, reduce stress, and combat fatigue, all of which can contribute to the winter blues. They can be found in supplement or tea form.

4. Omega-3 Fatty Acids
Why: Omega-3 fatty acids, particularly EPA and DHA, are crucial for brain function and mood regulation.
How: Include foods like fatty fish (salmon, mackerel), flaxseeds, and chia seeds in your diet, or take a high-quality omega-3 supplement.

5. Exercise
Why: Physical activity helps release endorphins and serotonin, which naturally improve mood.
How: Try to get outside for a walk, even if it's just for 20-30 minutes. Yoga, stretching, and indoor exercises like dancing can also be uplifting.

6. Herbal Teas for Relaxation and Mood
Why: Certain herbs have calming properties that may help reduce anxiety, stress, and promote better sleep.
How: Drink herbal teas like Chamomile, Lavender, Lemon Balm, and St. John's Wort (which may also act as a mild antidepressant). St. John’s Wort should be used with caution and under the guidance of a healthcare provider.

7. Mindfulness and Meditation
Why: Mental health benefits from mindfulness techniques include reducing anxiety, improving sleep, and enhancing overall emotional well-being.
How: Practice daily meditation, deep breathing, or mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR). Even 10-15 minutes a day can make a big difference.

8. Nutrient-Rich Foods
Why: A nutrient-rich diet supports mental clarity and energy.
How: Focus on eating whole foods, including leafy greens, colorful vegetables, lean proteins, and complex carbohydrates. Foods high in magnesium (like almonds and leafy greens) and B-vitamins (like eggs and leafy vegetables) can also improve mood.

9. Acupuncture
Why: Traditional Chinese Medicine suggests acupuncture helps balance energy and improve mood.
How: Acupuncture is thought to stimulate the release of endorphins and help regulate the body's internal systems, making it a useful tool for managing symptoms of depression or anxiety during the winter months.

10. Stay Connected and Socialize
Why: Isolation can make the winter blues worse.
How: Engage in activities with loved ones or friends, even if it’s through virtual means. Consider joining a group or taking part in activities that lift your spirits.

11. Aromatherapy
Why: Scents can influence mood, and certain oils may be uplifting and soothing.
How: Use a diffuser with essential oils like peppermint, citrus oils, or frankincense. These oils can help with energy, mood lifting, and mental clarity.

12. Stay Hydrated
Why: Dehydration can lead to fatigue and affect mental clarity, which may contribute to feelings of sadness.
How: Drink plenty of water, and consider adding herbal infusions like ginger or lemon for an extra mood boost.

13. Sleep Hygiene
Why: Poor sleep is often linked to mood disorders.
How: Ensure you’re getting 7-9 hours of sleep per night. Maintain a regular sleep schedule, and create a calming bedtime routine. Herbal teas like Chamomile or Valerian root can promote restful sleep.

14. Magnesium Supplements
Why: Magnesium has been shown to support mood, reduce anxiety, and improve sleep.
How: You can take a magnesium supplement, or eat magnesium-rich foods like dark chocolate, almonds, spinach, and avocados.

Combining several of these tips into your daily routine can create a more holistic approach to combat the winter blues, supporting your physical, emotional, and mental well-being naturally.

If symptoms persist, we offer comprehensive neurotransmitter, hormone, adrenal and nutrient specialty labs to help identify and treat imbalances. The best part is that your treatment plan is always tailored to your preferences!

Welcome to 2025! A New Year, A New You!

As we step into a fresh year, I am excited to continue supporting you on your wellness journey. 2025 brings new opportunities for growth, healing, and transformation, and I am fully dedicated to helping you reach your health goals. Together, we’ll create a roadmap for your well-being and celebrate the progress along the way.

To kick off the year, I’m offering discounted follow-up consultations for my valued patients. It's the perfect time to revisit your wellness plan, check in on your progress, and make adjustments as needed to ensure you stay on track for a year filled with vitality and wellness.

3 Tips to Stay on Track with Your New Year Health Goals:

Regular IVs for Nutrients & Hydration – Replenishing your body with essential vitamins, minerals, and hydration through regular IV therapy is a game-changer. Whether you’re focusing on immune support, energy levels, or detoxification, IVs can help you feel at your best.

Schedule Workouts with Family or Friends – Staying active doesn’t have to be a solo activity! Schedule regular workouts with loved ones for both accountability and fun. Whether it’s a walk, yoga, or a high-energy fitness class, exercising with others makes it easier to stay committed.

Clean Drinking Water – Hydration is essential for overall health. Clean, filtered water supports digestion, energy levels, and skin health. Make it a habit to drink plenty of water throughout the day, and consider adding an electrolyte boost for even more hydration support. Be sure to filter out fluoride and avoid plastic bottles whenever possible to protect your health and the environment.

For those seeking to take their results to the next level, I offer advanced regenerative therapies such as peptides, exosomes, stem cell treatments, and ozone therapy. These cutting-edge therapies can help accelerate healing, enhance energy, and improve overall wellness in a way that supports long-term health goals.

I look forward to continuing our partnership in 2025 and being part of your journey toward health and vitality!

11/11/2024

Hey There Health Tribe!

Happy 249th Birthday to my fellow Marines—it has truly been an honor to serve alongside you. With deep respect, honor, and gratitude, I want to thank all veterans for their service!

As I continue to expand my knowledge of new therapies, techniques, and lab interpretations to provide the best care possible, I also want to take a moment to wish everyone a joyous and prosperous Diwali and a Happy New Year!

As the holiday season begins, I encourage you all to approach it with gratitude and make mindful choices that will help you enjoy the holidays to the fullest. Here are 10 ways to help:

1. Boost Immunity Naturally
- Vitamin C: Increase your intake of vitamin C-rich foods like citrus fruits, bell peppers, and dark leafy greens. Consider supplementing with a high-quality, bioavailable vitamin C, especially if you're feeling run down.
- Elderberry: Elderberry has been traditionally used to support immune function and help ward off colds. Look for syrups or supplements.
- Zinc: Zinc is crucial for immune health. Include foods like pumpkin seeds, lentils, chickpeas, and cashews in your diet.
- Probiotics: A healthy gut is linked to a strong immune system. Consider adding fermented foods (like kimchi, sauerkraut, kefir, or yogurt) to your meals or taking a probiotic supplement.

2. Stay Hydrated
- Herbal Teas: Drink herbal teas like ginger, peppermint, or chamomile to stay hydrated and calm your digestive system after heavy holiday meals.
- Lemon Water: Start your day with a glass of warm lemon water. It helps to alkalize the body, supports digestion, and can give your immune system a natural boost.
- Infused Water: Add cucumber, mint, or berries to your water to make it more appealing and encourage hydration throughout the day.

3. Mindful Eating
- Eat Whole, Nourishing Foods: Opt for whole grains, fresh vegetables, and lean proteins. Avoid overindulgence in sugary or overly processed foods.
- Moderate Alcohol: Alcohol can weaken your immune system, disrupt sleep, and contribute to dehydration. If you’re indulging, drink water between alcoholic beverages and aim to limit your consumption.
- Spices for Digestion: Include digestive spices like ginger, turmeric, cinnamon, and cardamom in your meals or drinks. These can help ease digestion, reduce inflammation, and boost circulation.

4. Support Your Digestion
- Digestive Enzymes: If you're eating rich or heavier meals, consider taking a digestive enzyme supplement to support the breakdown of fats, proteins, and carbohydrates.
- Fiber: Ensure you're getting enough fiber to support digestion and prevent constipation. Whole grains, beans, and vegetables are excellent sources.

5. Reduce Stress and Enhance Relaxation
- Adaptogens: Herbs like ashwagandha, Rhodiola, or holy basil are known as adaptogens and can help the body handle stress more effectively. Consider using them in tincture or supplement form.
- Essential Oils: Diffuse calming essential oils like lavender or frankincense to reduce stress and create a peaceful atmosphere.
- Mindfulness Practices: The holidays can get overwhelming, so incorporate relaxation techniques like deep breathing, yoga, or meditation to stay grounded and present.
- Sleep: Ensure you're getting plenty of sleep, as it's vital for immune health and mental well-being. Create a calming evening routine with relaxing herbal teas (like chamomile or valerian root) to improve sleep quality.

6. Detox After Overindulgence
- Light, Cleansing Foods: After a day of indulgent eating, opt for lighter, more cleansing foods like soups, salads, or smoothies made with leafy greens, cucumber, lemon, and parsley.
- Detox Herbs: Consider herbs like dandelion root or milk thistle, which are traditionally used to support liver detoxification and promote digestion.
- Hydration: Drinking plenty of water, along with herbal teas or lemon water, will help flush out toxins and support your body’s natural detox processes.

7. Mindful Movement
- Stay Active: Even during the busy holiday season, make time for some form of daily movement, whether it’s a walk, a yoga session, a quick lift session, or a dance class. This helps maintain circulation, supports digestion, and reduces stress.
- Stretching: Gentle stretching or yoga can help relieve tension and improve flexibility, especially if you're spending a lot of time sitting or traveling.

8. Prepare Your Skin
- Moisturize: The dry air of winter can wreak havoc on your skin. Use natural oils like jojoba, coconut, or argan oil to keep your skin hydrated.
- DIY Masks: Treat yourself to a hydrating mask with ingredients like honey, avocado, or yogurt for extra nourishment during the winter months.

9. Create a Calming Environment
- Decorate with Intent: Create a peaceful and uplifting environment with natural elements like pine, eucalyptus, or citrus in your decorations. These can have a grounding, energizing, and refreshing effect.
- Scent: Scented candles made with essential oils (not synthetic fragrances) can create a calming atmosphere. Try scents like lavender, orange, or cinnamon.

10. Stay Grateful and Present
- Gratitude Practice: The holidays can get busy, but remember to take a few moments each day to reflect on what you’re grateful for. Gratitude has been shown to reduce stress and improve overall well-being.
- Mindful Eating: Slow down and savor each bite, enjoying the flavors and textures of your food. It can help prevent overeating and promote digestion.

11. Avoiding Overstimulation
- Digital Detox: Holidays can bring digital overload, so take breaks from screens and spend time engaging in face-to-face conversations or outdoor activities.
- Quality Time: Prioritize quality time with loved ones over material gifts, and enjoy the simple pleasures of the season—whether it’s a cozy evening, a winter walk, or a holiday movie night.

By combining these naturopathic tips with a mindful approach, you can enjoy the holidays while maintaining your physical and mental health. Happy, healthy holidays!

Hey There Health Tribe!

I hope this hot weather entices you to maintain your health through morning cardio, fresh salads and juices, and cold plunges!

Stay on this health band wagon by getting your tune up therapies. Through this month, we are offering a deep discount on high dose IV Vitamin C 25g drips!

Intravenous high dose vitamin C may benefit conditions ranging from infections to cancer to mast cell activation syndrome. But we found one more reason to jump on the vitamin C:

Dr. Ana Maria Milhacea, MD, PhD has discovered through Live Blood Analysis that EDTA chelation and Vitamin C directly exposed to blood containing filaments and microrobotic particles can disintegrate these observed nanoparticles--including the self-assembling microchips!

Please email us to request the full research articles and microscope photos and videos displaying these results.

I am excited to share that I am beginning Live Blood Analysis training and will be sharing more of my own experiences in the next 3 months.

We're open this Saturday 8/31!
Appointments fill up fast on our weekend day of the month so if you're wanting to come in, call us to make an appointment today!

Hey Health Tribe!

Back-to-school season is upon us and it is crucial to start prioritizing our own immune systems as we prepare to support our family and kids for the upcoming season. I can’t help but wonder, especially with 3 kids of my own, how many of us are exposed to countless germs our kids bring home! Unwittingly, it can get us too!

There are solutions to this. You don't have to get sick and then succumb to riding it out any longer. We have some tips and strategies to fortify your immunity during this busy time.

Understanding Back-to-School Health Needs: Kids and adults returning to school often brings increased exposure to germs and stress, making it so important for parents and caregivers to maintain strong immune systems. By focusing on these approaches, you can safeguard your well-being throughout the school year.

Tips for Building Immunity:
- Nutrient-Rich Diet: Fuel your body with a balanced diet rich in immune-boosting foods such as colorful fruits and vegetables, soaked and sprouted grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Incorporate foods like citrus fruits, berries, garlic, and kimchi.

- Avoiding Sugar: Sugar, maltodextrin and all the other fancy names can suppress our immune systems for 4 hours post consumption! Simply avoiding added sugars where it's easy or routine can help our immune systems stay on top of the germs.

- Hydration: Stay hydrated with plenty of water throughout the day. Proper hydration supports immune function by aiding in the elimination of toxins.

- Quality Sleep: Prioritize adequate sleep to support immune function and overall well-being. Aim for consistent bedtime routines and create a restful sleep environment.

- Supplements: Up your family's vitamin intake to support immune health, such as vitamin C, vitamin D, zinc, and probiotics. Contact us to determine the best options for your needs!

- Stress Management: Stress is often labeled as the "silent killer" since it is invisible and the impact isn't seen until much later. Practice stress-relief techniques such as deep breathing, meditation (especially important if you feel like you don't have time!), or yoga. Managing stress effectively can enhance immune resilience.

- Hand Washing: Going back to the basics of maintaining good personal hygiene practices, including regular hand washing with soap and water especially before eating will make a big difference to limited the germs introduced into your body. Singing the happy birthday song while you wash your hands is a good length of time!

- In Office Therapies: Simple hacks like nasal ozone insufflations, Fight it vitamin injections and various infusions we offer can all help prevent and counter the ill effects of the seasonal colds and flus.

To support you with the goal of fortifying your immune system, Verve is offering 15 % off Vit C 25g drips this season!
