Integrated Resources Institute Integrated Resources Institute (IRI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the full inclusion of persons with disabilities into their community.

IRI Mentorworks provides day program services to adults with disabilities to find employment in their community. Our philosophy is "Everyone Works". We truly embody this motto as over 50% of our clients work in their community. Our services are provided under the philosophy of person centered planning. Everyone gets individualized services and we work on developing our client's interest, skills a

nd preferences. We presume competence and focus on the "can do" instead of the "can't do". Through its MentorWorks program, IRI has facilitated over 20,000 community job placements for persons with disabilities in the US and Australia. Based on these successful Integrated Work outcomes, IRI has been awarded several local, state, federal and international grants. IRI also provides Supported Living, Educational Consultation and Professional Development services and consultation.

Why July? In July 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act was finally signed into law. Later that year, the first Disability Pride Day celebration was held in Boston, Massachusetts. Since then, communities all across the country have marched and held parades in support of the disability community every July.

IRI would like to show our appreciation to July's Employee Spotlight, Employment Coach Maritza Schuyler! 🎉

Maritza is a truly dedicated coach who cares for the well-being of the people we provide services to. She has been instrumental in finding opportunities for them that align with their skill set and interests.

Since 2021, Maritza has supported a person we serve who immigrated from another country; enrolling them in English courses at West Valley Occupational Center and connecting them with a volunteer opportunity. Today, they continue to build skills through ESL and computer classes. In another instance, Maritza assisted another person we serve in signing up for pre-gym membership through the SilverSneakers program.

Maritza shows so much of what is possible by introducing new experiences and possibilities that have enriched their lives. She consistently advocates for better opportunities and outcomes, encouraging those we support to reach their full potential and connecting them with the best available resources.

Maritza takes initiative to support those in seeking meaningful opportunities and she always shares events of the people we support succeeding in their day to day life!

We’re proud to share that our CEO, Suad Bisogno, has been honored with the Jynny Retzinger Community Service Award at this year’s NLACRC Legislative Breakfast, themed “Breaking Down Barriers – Building an Inclusive Future for All.”

This award recognizes individuals who have made lasting contributions in the lives of people with developmental disabilities through advocacy and community service. Suad’s work, both locally and statewide, continues to reflect those values. Her leadership includes serving on the Boards of National and California APSE, California TASH, and the DDS Master Plan Workgroup.

Presenting this award was fellow disability advocate, Marty Omoto, Director of CDCAN. In addition to this award, Suad received multiple Certificates of Recognition from Assemblymembers Celeste Rodriguez and Nick Schultz, Congressman George Whitesides, and Senators Henry Stern and Suzette Martinez Valladares. This recognition affirms her ongoing efforts to advance equity, inclusion, and opportunity for all those we serve.

July is a reminder to celebrate the strength, diversity, and leadership of the disability community, and also recognize the work that is still ahead. Disability is not something to fix or overcome, it’s a vital part of human experience. Let's remember to listen, learn, and show up, not just this month, but every day.

Our Story

IRI Mentorworks provides services to adults with disabilities to find employment in their community. We believe "Everybody Works".

For years, people with disabilities have been disenfranchised and told what they can’t do. Here at IRI, we focus on what people can do; celebrating them for their gifts, talents and differences. IRI doesn’t only support individuals with disabilities to find employment, but we also support and educate the larger community, specifically employers, on the advantages of hiring a person with a disability. As a grassroots non-profit organization, IRI has facilitated over 20,000 community job placements for persons with disabilities in the US and Australia. Based on these successful Integrated Work outcomes, IRI has been awarded several local, state, federal and international grants.

IRI also provides Supported and Independent Living services, Educational and Transition Consultation.
