What to Expect With Cataract Surgery

Cataract surgery is one of the most commonly performed outpatient procedures and is typically quick and well-tolerated. Knowing what to expect can help ease anxiety and make the day go smoothly.

Before Surgery
• You’ll have a pre-operative exam and measurements
• You’ll discuss lens options with your doctor to determine what’s best for your vision needs
• Instructions will be provided for using pre-operative eye drops
Day of Surgery
Cataract surgery is performed in our state-licensed, accredited ambulatory surgery center, designed for comfort, safety, and efficiency.
• Outpatient procedure
• Performed at our accredited surgery center
• While the procedure itself is brief, most patients can expect to be at the surgery center for about 2 hours or less
• You go home the very same day

After Surgery
• Vision may be blurry at first and improves over time
• Eye drops are prescribed to support healing
• Follow-up visits at the clinic help monitor recovery

We follow strict guidelines to provide safe high-quality care. Our highly trained surgeons and staff put patient safety and concerns at the top of our list. Our ophthalmologist will work with you on your expectations and goals for corrected vision. Not everyone is a candidate for Lasik so our ophthalmologists and staff will review and work with you on options for the best outcomes.
